William Mahony (politician, Born 1877)
William George Mahony (1877 – 28 August 1962) was an Australian politician. Born in Ireland, Mahony migrated to Australia as a child. He was raised in Balmain, where he received a primary education before becoming a grocer's assistant. He was the first secretary of the Grocers' Assistants' Union, and was involved in its amalgamation into the Shop Assistants' Union. In the by-election that resulted from the death of Robert Howe in 1915, Mahony was elected unopposed to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for Dalley. He held the seat until 1927, when he resigned and was succeeded by the former Premier of Queensland, Ted Theodore. Following his resignation, he purchased a sub-lease of the Commercial Hotel at Balmain East in June 1927, but sold it again in November. A 1928 Royal Commission found that Mahony had been bribed to resign from the Parliament, probably by or for Theodore, but proof was never found. Mahony had emphatically denied the allega ...

William Mahony (New South Wales Politician)
William Henry Mahony (9 February 1856 – 26 July 1918) was an Australian politician. He was born in Adelaide to builder Timothy Mahony and Elizabeth Johns. He was educated at Sydney Grammar School and was articled as a solicitor's clerk to Robert Burdett Smith in 1877. In 1882 he was admitted to practice as a solicitor. In 1894 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the Free Trade Free trade is a trade policy that does not restrict imports or exports. William Mahony (bishop)
William Mahony, SMA was an Irish Catholic prelate who served as bishop of Roman Catholic Diocese of Ilorin, 29 April 1919 – 15 November 1994. The son of Mick and Mary Mahony of Derrybrien, Slieve Aughty, Mahony had two sisters and three brothers. His father, grandfather and two of his brothers were blacksmiths, a motif he incorporated into his coat of arms as a bishop. Mahony was at the Gort sheep fair when he heard the call of God to become a priest, joining the Society of African Missions in 1936. He studied in Ballinafad Co. Mayo, Cork, Galway, Newry and London. William Victor Mahony (born September 16, 1949) is a former breaststroke swimmer who represented Canada in multiple international championships from 1966 to 1974, including two Summer Olympics, the Pan American Games, and two Commonwealth Games. Mahony began his international career at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica, with a bronze medal in the 220-yard breaststroke.
