William Leroy LaFollette, Jr
William LeRoy "Roy" LaFollette Jr. (1890–1950) was an American political figure and lawyer. He served in the Washington House of Representatives in the State Legislature. He was elected Prosecuting Attorney of Whitman County several times. He was appointed by President Franklin Roosevelt to the Washington State Public Works Commission. Early life and education Roy was raised in Whitman County on his family wheat ranches and fruit orchards. He graduated from Washington State University where he was a member of the ROTC and George Washington University Law School in Washington D.C. Political career While still a law student, he ran his father, William La Follette's, Congressional office in the nation's capital. Harvey Marion LaFollette
Harvey Marion LaFollette (September 8, 1858 – September 20, 1929) was an American teacher and educator, who as a young man, served two terms as Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction. He then moved to Tennessee, where he established the town of LaFollette. His company, LaFollette Coal, Iron, and Railway Company, eventually employed more than 1500 people and was the largest blast furnace in the Southern United States. Early life and education Harvey M. LaFollette was born in Primrose, Wisconsin. His first cousin, Robert Marion La Follette, Sr., was three years old at the time and living on the adjoining farm. Harvey's father (also named Harvey M. Early life and education Mimi was the eldest of four children. She grew up in Colfax, Washington where her father, William Leroy LaFollette Jr., was an attorney and politician and her mother was the daughter of the Congregational Church missionary. She was educated in the local public schools. She studied the violin, was rodeo queen, and took lessons in elocution with Ida Lou Anderson. Robert Marion "Fighting Bob" La Follette Sr. (June 14, 1855June 18, 1925), was an American lawyer and politician. He represented Wisconsin in both chambers of Congress and served as the 20th Governor of Wisconsin. A Republican for most of his life, he ran for president of the United States as the nominee of his own Progressive Party in the 1924 presidential election. Historian John D. Buenker describes La Follette as "the most celebrated figure in Wisconsin history". Born and raised in Wisconsin, La Follette won election as the Dane County District Attorney in 1880. Four years later, he was elected to the House of Representatives, where he was friendly with party leaders like William McKinley.
