William Latey
William Latey, CBE, QC (12 February 1885 – 28 February 1976) was an English barrister and Special Divorce Commissioner. Biography Latey was born in 1885, the son of John Latey, editor of ''The Illustrated London News''. He was war correspondent for the ''News Chronicle'' (1914–15), then served in the Ministry of Munitions (1916–18), and was appointed an MBE in 1918. He began practising as a barrister on the Oxford Circuit the following year, specialising in probate and divorce law, becoming an authority on the latter and authoring ''Latey on Divorce'' (1952). During the Second World War, he was an ARP Warden for the Temple and City, and was appointed a bencher in 1947. From 1952 to 1964 he was a Divorce Commissioner. He became Treasurer of the Middle Temple in 1966, and served as President of the Medico-Legal Society (1956–57). Commander Of The Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. Recommendations for appointments to the Order of the British Empire were originally made on the nomination of the United Kingdom, the self-governing Dominions of the Empire (later Commonwealth) and the Viceroy of India. John Latey (judge)
Sir John Brinsmead Latey, MBE (7 March 1914 – 24 April 1999) was a British judge. Born in London, Latey was the son of the divorce barrister William Latey QC and the grandson of the journalist John Latey. He was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford, where he took a Third in Jurisprudence in 1935. He was called to the bar by the Middle Temple in 1936. Initially refused for wartime service due to poor eyesight, Latey was commissioned into the Royal Army Pay Corps in 1942, and subsequently transferred to the Judge Advocate's Department. He was appointed a MBE (Military Division) in 1943. After the War he returned to the bar, and was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1957. In 1965, on the recommendation of Lord Gardiner, Latey was appointed to the High Court and assigned to the Probate, Divorce and Admiralty Division, receiving the customary knighthood. National Marriage Guidance Council
Relate is a charity providing relationship support throughout the United Kingdom. Services include Relationship counseling, counselling for couples, families, young people and individuals, sex therapy, mediation and training courses.
