William Jerome McCormack
William Jerome McCormack (January 24, 1924 – November 23, 2013) was an American prelate of the Catholic Church who served as Auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New York from 1987 to 2001. A titular bishop in various churches is a bishop who is not in charge of a diocese. By definition, a bishop is an "overseer" of a community of the faithful, so when a priest is ordained a bishop, the tradition of the Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox churches is that he be ordained for a specific place.
