William Hussey (MP For Stamford)
Sir William Hussey (by 1473 – by February 1531) was an English politician. William Hussey was the second son of William Hussey (judge), Sir William Hussey of Sleaford, Lincolnshire. His elder brother was John Hussey, 1st Baron Hussey of Sleaford. He was a Member of Parliament, Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Stamford (UK Parliament constituency), Stamford in 1512. On 16 August 1513, at Tournai, after the Battle of Guinegate (1513), Battle of the Spurs, he and his brother John were promoted to Knights Banneret by Henry VIII of England, Henry VIII. He returned to France in 1520 in company with other knights to attend on Henry VIII of England, Henry VIII at his meeting with Francis I of France at the Field of the Cloth of Gold. This was followed by a mission to the Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor, Archduke Ferdinand in 1523 and his appointment as (financial) comptroller of Calais early in 1526. He was the eldest son of John Hussey, 1st Baron Hussey of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, who had been executed in 1536 and whose title had been extinguished. William was knighted in 1529. William Hussey (English Diplomat)
Sir William Hussey (1642–1691) was English ambassador to the Ottoman Empire. Hussey was the son of Thomas Hussey and his wife Rhoda Chapman, daughter of Thomas Chapman, of London. He was a merchant and deputy-governor of the Levant Company. On 20 April 1690, the Levant Company elected. Travelling overland, he arrived at Vienna on 30 November. He left that city in April 1691 and was appointed by King William III as Ambassador to the Porte in Constantinople on 28 June, in time to mediate between the Ottomans and the Habsburg Empire. Hussey died on 14 September 1691 at Edirne Edirne (, ), formerly known as Adrianople or Hadrianopolis ( Greek: Άδριανούπολις), is a city in Turkey, in the northwestern part of the province of Edirne in Eastern Thrace. William Hussey (died 1813)
William Hussey (c.1724 – 26 January 1813) was an English businessman and politician who sat in the House of Commons for 48 years from 1765 to 1813. Early life Hussey was baptised on 1 January 1725, the son of John Hussey, Mayor of Salisbury in 1737. On his father's death in 1739 he inherited property in Wiltshire and Dorset and became a successful clothier in Salisbury. He married firstly Mary Eyre, the daughter of John Eyre of Landford Lodge, Wiltshire, on 9 October 1752. She died on 21 May 1754. In 1755 he was elected a councillor for the city of Salisbury, becoming an alderman in 1756 and mayor in 1759. He married secondly Jane Marsh, daughter of Robert Marsh, a London merchant and Governor of the Bank of England on 5 April 1758. William Joseph Hussey (August 10, 1862 – October 28, 1926) was an American astronomer. Early life and education He was born at Mendon, Ohio, August 10, 1862, son of John Milton Hussey and Mary Catherine Stevens. He attended the Valparaiso Normal School in 1880 and completed the scientific curriculum with a specialization in education in one year. Afterward, he attended the University of Michigan to study civil engineering. He had to stop his education his sophomore year of university due to a lack of funds. During a three year hiatus from his education he worked as a principal of the schools at Ohio Station, Illinois. During summer breaks, he did clerical work for railroad surveyors in the Northwest. He then returned to the University of Michigan to finish his civil engineering degree in 1889. Sir William Hussey (or Huse or Husee) of Sleaford, Lincolnshire, SL (1443 – 8 September 1495) was an English lawyer who served as Attorney General and as Chief Justice of the King's Bench. Family Hussey was the son of John Hussey (or Huse or Husee) of Old Sleaford, Lincolnshire, and his wife, Elizabeth Nesfield (or Neffield), of Yorkshire. Career He was a member of Gray's Inn, and on 16 June 1471 was appointed Attorney General, with full power of deputing clerks and officers under him in courts of record. As Attorney General he conducted the impeachment of the Duke of Clarence for treason. In Trinity term of 1478 he was made a Serjeant-at-Law, and on 7 May 1481 was appointed Chief Justice of the King's Bench, in succession to Sir Thomas Billing, at a salary of 140 marks a year.
