William Henry Seager
Sir William Henry Seager (1862 – 10 March 1941) was a Welsh shipping magnate and Liberal Party politician who spent four years as a Member of Parliament (MP). Life The Seager family were originally from Ilfracombe, Devon, but moved to Cardiff in the 1850s. William Henry Seager was born in Cardiff and initially worked as a clerk but established his own business, W. H. Seager & Company, ship's chandlers, at 109, Bute Street, Cardiff in 1892. In 1904 he bought a new ship, the 'Tempus'. By 1910 he was buying more ships, another new ship which Seager called the ''Amicus'', then three older ships which he renamed ''Beatus'', ''Salvus'' and ''Virtus'', and also by 1914 the ''Campus'' had been added to the line. Lewis Lougher
Sir Lewis Lougher, JP (1 October 1871 – 28 August 1955) was a Welsh businessman and politician. He was the second son of Thomas Lougher of Llandaff, and Charlotte ''née Lewis'', daughter of a farmer from Radyr. Following education at Cardiff Secondary School and Cardiff Technical College he was apprenticed to corn merchants. However he quickly established himself in the shipping business at a time when Cardiff Docks were developing as the largest coal-exporting port in the world. In 1910, at the age of 29, he established his own shipping company, Lewis Lougher & Co. He went on to become became chairman of several shipping companies in Cardiff, Penarth and Barry. He was also chairman of the Federation of Bristol Channel Shipowners and of the Cardiff Chamber of Trade. Baron Leighton of St Mellons, of St Mellons in the County of Monmouth, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 25 January 1962 for the Welsh shipping magnate Sir Leighton Seager, 1st Baronet. He was the son of Sir William Henry Seager. Seager had already been created a Baronet, of St Mellons in the County of Monmouth on 1 July 1952. the titles are held by his grandson, the third Baron, who succeeded his father in 1998. As of 31 December 2016 the present Baronet has not successfully proven his succession and is therefore not on the Official Roll of the Baronetage, with the baronetcy considered dormant since 1998.
