William Henry Pferinger Elkins
Major General William Henry Pferinger Elkins, (13 June 1883–1964) was a Canadian soldier. He was a commandant of the RMC. Education 624 Major General William Henry Pferinger Elkins was born on 13 June 1883 at Sherbrooke, Quebec. He graduated from the Bishop's College School in Quebec in 1899 and Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario, in June 1905. Career He was commissioned in the Royal Canadian Artillery; his first posting was to "B" Battery, RCHA. He served with "N" Battery, RHA in India from 1908 to 1910, and while on the sub-continent completed his captain qualifying examination. He served as Commanding Officer RCHA Brigade 1916–1922. In December 1917, he was evacuated due to illness and convalesced at the Prince of Wales Hospital for Officers at Marylebone, England. Sir Archibald Cameron Macdonell, (6 October 1864 – 23 December 1941) was a Canadian police officer and soldier. Education He was born in Windsor, Canada West. He was educated at Trinity College School, Port Hope, Ontario, and graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1886, student number 151. He received a commission in the Royal Artillery but resigned for family reasons without actually joining. Atlantic Command (Canadian Army)
Atlantic Command was a formation of the Canadian Army created during the Second World War to strengthen and administer home defence facilities on Canada's Atlantic Coast. A second major function was to train reinforcements to be sent to the Canadian divisions in Europe. Most of those soldiers received and trained with their personal weapons in Camp Debert before being transported by train to Halifax where they embarked on troop ships that took them to Britain.
