William Forest Crouch
William Forest Crouch (January 16, 1904 – March, 1968) was an American director and writer of film, mostly Short film, shorts. His work includes ''Reet, Petite, and Gone'' (1947) made with an all-African-American cast. He was active during the 1940s. He was born in Boone, Louisiana, with most of his family emigrating to Australia in the early 1960s, incentivised by the Australian government, who were optimistic about the emerging film industry. In Australia at the time, there was an undercurrent of racism that Crouch had to overcome as half of an interracial couple with children. Crouch and his family escaped the cold of Australia's Southern region by spending William's final years in the Northern New South Wales and Gold Coast region with their large extended family of grandchildren. Bill Crouch (1910s Pitcher)
William Henry Crouch (December 3, 1886 – December 22, 1945) was a Major League Baseball pitcher during part of the 1910 season. The 6'1", 210 lb. left-hander was a native of Kiamensi, Delaware. Crouch started one game for the St. Louis Browns. On July 12, 1910, he faced the Washington Senators at American League Park and the opposing pitcher was Walter Johnson, a future Hall of Famer. They dueled to a 4–4 score at the end of eight innings and the game ended as a tie. William Elmer Crouch (August 20, 1907 – December 26, 1980) was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers (1939), Philadelphia Phillies (1941), and St. Louis Cardinals (1941 and 1945). The , right-hander was a native of Wilmington, Delaware. Crouch was 4–0 with a 2.58 during his brief rookie season. He made his major league debut in relief on May 9, 1939, against the Cardinals at Ebbets Field. His first major league win came in his first start, a complete game 11–2 victory over the Phillies in the first game of a home doubleheader on September 8, 1939. In 1941 Crouch finished in the National League top ten for games pitched (38), saves (7), and games finished (16). The Pulitzer Prize for Photography was one of the American Pulitzer Prizes annually awarded for journalism. It was inaugurated in 1942 and replaced by two photojournalism prizes in 1968: the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography and "Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography", which was later renamed Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography in 2000. The Pulitzer Prizes were established by the bequest of Joseph Pulitzer, which suggested four journalism awards, and were inaugurated beginning 1917. By 1942 there were eight Pulitzers for journalism; for several years now there have been 14 including the two for photojournalism.
