William Crosbie (British Army Officer)
Major-General William Crosbie (c.1740 - 16 June 1798) was a British Army officer. Military career Crosbie was commissioned as an ensign in the 38th Regiment of Foot in 1757. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1759 and captain in 1769. After serving at the evacuation of Boston in March 1776 during the American Revolutionary War, he was promoted to major in 1778. Promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1781, he became commanding officer of the 22nd Regiment of Foot on promotion. He raised the 89th Regiment of Foot in December 1793 and was promoted to major-general in 1794. Crosbie also served as colonel of the 89th Regiment of Foot from 1793 to 1795 and as colonel of the 22nd Regiment of Foot from 1795 to his death in 1798. William Crosbie (artist)
William (Bill) Crosbie (31 January 1915 – 15 January 1999) was a Scottish painter. His work hangs in all major museums and galleries in Scotland and is part of the Royal Collection. Early life Crosbie was born in Hankow, China of Scottish parents. The family returned to Glasgow in 1926, where Bill attended Glasgow Academy and, from 1932 to 1934, the Glasgow School of Art. On leaving art school he travelled in Europe on a Haldane Travelling Scholarship. From 1937 to 1939 Crosbie lived in Paris, where he studied under Léger and Maillol. He describing his time in Leger's studio as ''one of my proudest experiences''. Work He was at the centre of what he once described as "a little local Renaissance", which included Hugh MacDiarmid, J D Fergusson, James Bridie, T J Honeyman, and Basil Spence. William Crosbie, 1st Earl Of Glandore
William Crosbie, 1st Earl of Glandore (May 1716 – 11 April 1781), known as The Lord Brandon between 1762 and 1771 and as The Viscount Crosbie between 1771 and 1776, was an Irish politician. Crosbie was the son of Maurice Crosbie, 1st Baron Brandon, by Lady Elizabeth Anne, daughter of Thomas FitzMaurice, 1st Earl of Kerry. He was elected at Trinity College Dublin. He was returned to the Irish House of Commons for Ardfert in 1735, a seat he held until 1762, when he succeeded his father in the barony and entered the Irish House of Lords. In 1770 he was appointed Custos Rotulorum of Kerry. He was created Viscount Crosbie, of Ardfert in the County of Kerry, in 1771, and was further honoured when he was made Earl of Glandore, in the County of Cork, in 1776. William Francis Crosbie
William Francis Crosbie (died 11 September 1768) was an Irish Member of Parliament. In 1750, he married Frances Wesley, daughter of Richard Wesley, 1st Baron Mornington, and in 1758 he was elected to succeed his brother-in-law Garret Wesley, 2nd Baron Mornington as Member for Trim in the Irish House of Commons, sitting until 1760. William Crosbie (engineer)
William Crosbie is a Canadian engineer and transportation planner. Background Crosbie holds an honors bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, and a master's degree in security studies (homeland security and defense) from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Career Crosbie began his career with the Canadian Pacific Railway, where he worked for six years, designing and commissioning railway signal and communication systems in Canada and the United States. He began working at Amtrak in 2002, was interim president in 2008, and became chief operating officer until the position was eliminated in 2010. He then worked for Parsons Corporation and thereafter as CEO for SYSTRA. He was appointed Executive Director of New Jersey Transit in April 2016, but ultimately did not take up the position.
