William Burt (writer)
William Burt (23 August 1778 – 1 September 1826) was an English miscellaneous writer, son of Joseph Burt of Plymouth. He was educated at Exeter grammar school, and afterwards articled to a banker and solicitor at Bridgwater. Finally he practised at Plymouth as a solicitor until his death on 1 September 1826. He edited the ''Plymouth and Dock Telegraph'' for several years. William Austin Burt
William Austin Burt (June 13, 1792 – August 18, 1858) was an American scientist, inventor, legislator, millwright, justice of the peace, school inspector, postmaster, judge, builder, businessman, surveyor and soldier. He first was a builder of sawmills, but his main interest was that of surveying. Burt built sawmills in an area that is now the city of Port Huron, Michigan. He built an excellent reputation for his accurate surveying work on public lands. He became a government deputy surveyor and trained many young men in several states how to become professional surveyors. Burt surveyed boundaries in the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa starting as early as 1833. He involved his five sons in surveying and each became a government deputy surveyor. Burt was a promoter of the construction of the Sault Ste. Marie Canal, a shipping navigational lock to bypass the rapids on the St. Marys River. He contributed in its surveying and construction. William Henry Burt (February 22, 1876 - November 21, 1940) was a career United States Army officer who served as a brigadier general throughout World War I.Davis, Henry Blaine. ''Generals in Khaki''. Burt received an A.B. degree from the University of Vermont in 1898. Later that year he enlisted for the Spanish–American War as a corporal in Company M, 1st Vermont Infantry Regiment. Military career Burt was commissioned a second lieutenant in the 43rd United States Volunteer Infantry in September 1899. He received a regular army commission in the artillery corps on July 1, 1901, and he graduated from the Artillery School in 1904. William Burt (politician)
William F. Burt (born in Deming, New Mexico) is an American politician and a Republican member of the New Mexico Senate representing District 33 since January 15, 2013. Burt served consecutively in the District 40 seat from his appointment January 14, 2011 by Governor of New Mexico Susana Martinez to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Senator Dianna Duran, who was elected Secretary of State until the end of the legislative session. Education Burt earned his bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University. William Burt Pope
William Burt Pope (19 February 1822–5 July 1903) was an English Wesleyan Methodist minister and theologian, who was president of the Methodist Conference. Biography Early life William Burt Pope was born at Horton, Nova Scotia, on 19 February 1822. He was the younger son of John Pope (1791–1863), Wesleyan missionary and Catherine, born Uglow, who was originally of Stratton, Cornwall. He was the younger brother of George Uglow Pope. After education at a village school at Hooe and at a secondary school at Saltash, near Plymouth, William spent a year in boyhood (1837-8) at Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, assisting an uncle, a shipbuilder and general merchant. In 1845, he married Ann Ehza Lethbridge, daughter of a yeoman farmer of Modbury, near Plymouth. By her he had six sons, two of whom died in early life, and four daughters.
