William Boyle (Irish Writer)
William Boyle (25 April 1853 – 6 March 1923) was an Irish dramatist and short story writer. His work revolved around the life of the farm people of County Louth, Ireland in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Boyle was born in the village of Dromiskin and educated at St Mary's College in Dundalk. He began his career as a teacher but entered the civil service, working in the customs and excise department, and spent his working life in Great Britain. Boyle was a friend of two leading Irish nationalists, Charles Stewart Parnell and John Redmond. Boyle became a member of the Irish Literary Society, London. He first made a literary name with stories and comic verse for light journals and newspapers. A collection of his short stories, ''A Kish of Brogues'', appeared in 1899. According to Irish literary scholar Norman Jeffares, it showed "his capacity to create character very convincingly." William Boyle (piper)
William Boyle (died c. 1888?) was an Irish piper. Boyle was a native of the town of Galway, "a fine general player on the Irish pipes and was equally proficient on the fiddle. Caring little for travel, he never went far from home until he came to America" about the year 1885 or 1886, "being then well advanced in years." Following a short stay in New York City, Boyle settled in Newark, New Jersey, where he kept a dance hall. When Owen Cunnigam was in Newark, "they would play together at balls and parties and other entertainments." Boyle had learned pipe music from Michael Touhey of Loughrea, grandfather of Patsy Touhey. His own father was a piper too, and kept a dance house in Galway town. Boyle himself died in Newark. William Boyle, 12th Earl Of Cork
Admiral of the Fleet William Henry Dudley Boyle, 12th Earl of Cork and 12th Earl of Orrery, (30 November 1873 – 19 April 1967) was a British Royal Navy officer and peer. He served as a junior officer on the China Station during the Boxer Rebellion and went on to serve in the First World War initially as a staff officer during the Dardanelles Campaign and as then commander of the Red Sea Patrol: in that capacity, he led a six-day bombardment of the Turkish held port of Jeddah and worked closely with T. E. Lawrence in support of the Arab Revolt. In the inter-war years he was Commander-in-Chief, Reserve Fleet, President of the Royal Naval College, Greenwich and Commander-in-Chief of the Home Fleet. William George Boyle
The Honourable William George Boyle (12 August 1830 – 24 March 1908) was a British soldier and Liberal Party politician. Boyle was the second son of Charles Boyle, Viscount Dungarvan, second but eldest surviving son of Edmund Boyle, 8th Earl of Cork. His mother was Lady Catherine St Lawrence while Richard Boyle, 9th Earl of Cork, was his elder brother. Boyle served with the Coldstream Guards and achieved the rank of lieutenant-colonel. In 1856 he succeeded his elder brother as Member of Parliament for Frome, a seat he held until the following year. He was also a Justice of the Peace for Somerset. Boyle died in March 1908, aged 77. He never married. William James Boyle (October 22, 1887 – 1971) was a political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Kinistino from 1944 to 1948 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) member. He was born in Cobourg, Ontario, the son of Thomas Boyle and Isabel Carstairs. In 1914, Boyle married Mary Teresa Fanning. He served as reeve for the rural municipality of Invergordon. Boyle lived in Kinistino, Saskatchewan. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the provincial assembly in 1938 before being elected in 1944. William Boyle (born 1978) is an American author of character-driven literary crime fiction. Boyle is a native of Brooklyn, New York and the borough forms the backdrop for much of his work. Early life and education Boyle lived with his mother's family in the southern Brooklyn neighborhoods of Gravesend and Bensonhurst. His mother's family was Italian. William Lewis Boyle
William Lewis Boyle (27 May 1859 – 2 October 1918) was Liberal Unionist MP for Mid Norfolk. He was the grandson of Vice-Admiral Sir Courtenay Boyle. The four times he stood in the constituency it was a straight fight between the Liberals and the Liberal Unionists. He stood unsuccessfully in 1900 and 1906, and won in the two general elections of 1910. Boyle joined the Conservative Party when it merged with the Liberal Unionists in 1912.
