Always Was, Always Will Be
"Always was, always will be Aboriginal land", sometimes abbreviated to "Always was, always will be" or just "Always will be", is an iconic phrase and rallying cry of the Indigenous land rights in Australia, Aboriginal land rights movement in Australia. Origin The phrase is said to have originated in the 1980s, with the Barkandji people in Far West (New South Wales), far-western New South Wales, who were fighting for Native title in Australia, legal recognition and rights as Sovereign citizen movement#Australia, sovereign owners of their homelands. William Gelston Bates
William Gelston Bates (November 17, 1803 – July 5, 1880) was an American politician. Bates, the eldest child of the Hon. Elijah Bates and of his wife Mary, daughter of Dr. Israel Ashley, Jr., of Westfield, Mass, was born in Westfield, November 17, 1803. He graduated from Yale College in 1825. He began the study of law with his father, and continued it at the Northampton Law School in Northampton, Mass. In August 1828, he was admitted to the bar of his native county, and began practice in Westfield, succeeding to the business of his father, who now retired. He soon won distinction as a counselor, and continued in successful practice until forced to retire by the approach of disease and old age. William Penn Bates (June 7, 1879 – March 2, 1956) was an American football player and coach of football, basketball, and baseball. He played college football as a fullback at Brown University for four years, including as team captain in 1901. William Frederick Bates (born June 6, 1961) is a former American football safety who played for fifteen seasons in the National Football League, all of which were spent with the Dallas Cowboys. William Horatio Bates (December 23, 1860 – July 10, 1931) was an American physician who practiced ophthalmology and developed what became known as the Bates method for better eyesight. The method was based in his theory that the eye does not focus by changing the power of the lens, but rather by elongating the eyeball through use of the extraocular oblique muscles; this model contradicted mainstream ophthalmology and optometry then and now. Career Bates graduated A.B. from Cornell University in 1881 and received his medical degree at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1885. He formulated a theory about vision health, and published the book ''Perfect Sight Without Glasses'' in 1920, and the magazine ''Better Eyesight'' from 1919 to 1930. Life He was born in London in November 1625, and was educated at Cambridge, initially at Emmanuel College and subsequently (1644) at Queens' College. In 1647 he proceeded B.A. He was a presbyterian. His first living was St. Dunstan's-in-the-West, London, and he remained as vicar until the Act of Uniformity 1662 was passed, when he was ejected. William Ederick Bates (5 March 1884 – 17 January 1957) was an English first-class cricketer who played for Yorkshire, Wales and most notably, Glamorgan, over a long career from 1907 to 1931. He was the son of Billy Bates, another notable Yorkshire born cricketer. Life and cricket career Bates was born in Kirkheaton, Yorkshire, England. He played 113 games for his native county between 1907 and 1913, scoring 2,634 runs at 17.32 with a highest score of 81. Although he developed into a fine left arm orthodox spinner, he hardly bowled before World War I, taking two wickets for Yorkshire.
