William Baker (fashion Designer)
William Baker (born 1973 in Manchester, England) is a fashion designer, fashion journalist, stylist, author and theatre director, best known for his past work with musician Kylie Minogue. Baker attended the Manchester Grammar School, where he was taught by the current head of Religious Studies Dennis Brown, and was the inspiration for Manchester indie band The Man From Delmonte's song "Pink". Baker was studying Theology at King's College London and working as a sales assistant for Vivienne Westwood in London when he met the singer Kylie Minogue and her photographer Katerina Jebb. William Baker (bishop Of Norwich)
William Baker (1668 – 4 December 1732) was an English churchman and academic, Warden of Wadham College, Oxford, Bishop of Bangor and bishop of Norwich. Life He was the son of William Baker, vicar of Ilton, Somerset, where he was born. He was educated at Crewkerne School, and entered Wadham College, Oxford, where he was first fellow, and eventually became warden in 1719. He was successively rector of St. Ebbes, of Padworth, and of Blaydon, all in the diocese of Oxford. In 1714 he was collated to the archdeaconry of Oxford. He was chaplain in ordinary to George I. In 1723 he was promoted to the see of Bangor, from which in 1727 he was translated to Norwich. He held the rectory of St. Giles-in-the-Fields ''in commendam'' up to the time of his death, which occurred at Bath, 4 December 1732. He never married. William George Baker (January 16, 1885 – April 9, 1960) was a railway conductor and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Moose Jaw City in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1921 to 1929 as a Labour and then Liberal-Labour member and then from 1938 to 1944 as a Liberal. William Baker (Lower Canada Politician)
William Baker (1789 – May 1866) was a businessman and political figure in Lower Canada. He represented Missisquoi in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1854 until the suspension of the constitution in 1838. He was born in Petersham, Massachusetts, the son of Joseph Baker and Maria "Molly" Stevens, and came to Dunham in Lower Canada in 1799 with his family. Baker studied medicine but never practised as a physician. He was named village schoolmaster in 1812 but shortly afterwards entered business. Baker was named justice of the peace in 1831. Baker was married, probably in Massachusetts, around 1821. He died in Dunham. His brother Stevens also represented Missisquoi in the assembly. His son George Barnard served in the Quebec assembly and the Canadian House of Commons and Senate. William Baker (3 October 1743 – 20 January 1824) was a British politician. Life William Baker was the eldest son of Sir William Baker, MP, educated at Eton College (1753–60). Admitted to Clare College, Cambridge in 1761, he did not matriculate there. He studied law at the Inner Temple (1761), where he was called to the bar in 1775. He succeeded his father in 1770, inheriting and renovating the Bayfordbury country house in Hertfordshire. He was elected a Sheriff of London for the same year. Baker was the Member of Parliament for Aldborough 4 March 1777 – 8 September 1780, Hertford 7 September 1780 – 30 March 1784, Hertfordshire 23 June 1790 – 10 July 1802 and 11 February 1805 – 11 May 1807 and Plympton Erle 22 March 1768 – 10 October 1774. He died at the age of 80. Sir William Baker (5 November 1705 – 23 January 1770) was an English merchant and politician, a Member of the Parliament of Great Britain and Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company. He was the son of John Baker, a London draper. He became an Alderman of London in 1739 and a director of the East India Company in 1741–5, 1746–50 and 1751–53. He was also deputy chairman (1749, 1751–52), chairman (1749–50, 1752–53), Deputy Governor (1750-60) and the 11th Governor (1760–70) of the Hudson's Bay Company. He was knighted in 1760. He was MP for Plympton Erle from 1747 to 1768. In 1759 he built a country house in an estate at Bayfordbury in Hertfordshire. He died in 1770. He had married Mary, the daughter of Jacob Tonson, publisher, and with her had 6 sons and a daughter. His eldest son, also William Baker, who inherited and improved Bayfordbury, was also an MP. Baker, described by the '' Tacoma News Tribune'' as "a roadside flower salesman with a history of annoying elected officials," has run for Pierce County Auditor, Washington state Auditor, United States Senator, Tacoma city council, and mayor of Tacoma, among other offices, but has never won a contest. He has been repeatedly arrested for speaking past his allotted time during public comment periods of the Tacoma city council, then refusing to yield the floor.
