William Austin Ingram
William Austin Ingram (July 6, 1924 – May 26, 2002) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Education and career Born in Jeffersonville, Indiana, Ingram served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. He received a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1950, and was in private practice in San Francisco, California from 1951 to 1955, and in San Jose, California from 1955 to 1969. He was a deputy district attorney of Santa Clara County, California from 1955 to 1957. He served as a judge of the Municipal Court for the Mountain View Judicial District in Palo Alto, California from 1969 to 1971. In 1971, Ingram was appointed to the Superior Court bench in Santa Clara County by California Governor Ronald Reagan. He served there until 1976. Senior Status
Senior status is a form of semi-retirement for United States federal judges. To qualify, a judge in the Federal judiciary of the United States, federal court system must be at least 65 years old, and the sum of the judge's age and years of service as a federal judge must be at least 80 years. As long as senior judges carry at least a 25 percent caseload or meet other criteria for activity, they remain entitled to maintain a staffed office and chambers, including a secretary and their normal complement of law clerks, and they continue to receive annual cost-of-living increases. Senior judges vacate their seats on the bench, and the President of the United States, president may appoint new full-time judges to fill those seats. Some U.S. states have similar systems for senior judges. Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. ( ; born Leslie Lynch King Jr.; July 14, 1913December 26, 2006) was an American politician who served as the 38th president of the United States from 1974 to 1977. He was the only president never to have been elected to the office of president or vice president as well as the only president to date from Michigan. Ronald Wilson Reagan ( ; February 6, 1911June 5, 2004) was an American politician, actor, and union leader who served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989.
