William A. Roosma
William A. Roosma (April 18, 1935 – April 29, 2011) was a career officer in the United States Army. A veteran of the Vietnam War and Operation Just Cause, he attained the rank of Major general (United States), major general and his command assignments included Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Training Brigade, the Military Science Department at Culver Military Academy, 10th Infantry Regiment (United States)#4th Battalion, 4th Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, 193rd Infantry Brigade (United States), 193rd Infantry Brigade, the Jungle warfare#United States, Jungle Operations Training Center at Fort Sherman, Panama, 2nd Infantry Brigade, 25th Infantry Division (United States), 25th Infantry Division, the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee that coordinated U.S. military participation in the Second inauguration of Ronald Reagan, and acting commander of XVIII Airborne Corps. Governors Island
Governors Island is a island in New York Harbor, within the New York City borough of Manhattan. It is located approximately south of Manhattan Island, and is separated from Brooklyn to the east by the Buttermilk Channel. The National Park Service administers a small portion of the north end of the island as the Governors Island National Monument, including two former military fortifications named Fort Jay and Castle Williams. The Trust for Governors Island operates the remaining , including 52 historic buildings, as a public park.
