William A. Hough High School
William Amos Hough High School ( ) is a high school in Cornelius, North Carolina, a northern suburb of Charlotte. The school opened in 2010. Hough's boundary includes: Cornelius, Davidson, and a section of Huntersville. History The school was constructed to relieve crowding at North Mecklenburg High School. It is named in honor of William Amos Hough, principal of North Meck High School from 1955 to 1974. Athletics Hough's athletic teams are known as the "Huskies". The school is a part of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) and competes in the I-Meck 4A athletic conference. Extracurricular activities The school has a National STEM league team, named "Iditarod Motorsports". Performing arts Hough has a marching band known as the Husky Marching Band, and Hough has a competitive show choir, "Howlin' Huskies". The Huskies claimed state championships in 2017 and 2018. Erika Brown (swimmer)
Erika Brown (born August 27, 1998) is an American swimmer. She qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games in the freestyle relay and individual 100m freestyle, placing 2nd in the 100m freestyle final at the US Olympic Team Trials. Career Brown attended William A. Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina. While in high school she was a four-time North Carolina state champion, winning twice in the 200 freestyle and 400 free relay events. Brown would attended college at the University of Tennessee. At Tennessee, Brown earned 21 All-America honors, which included a national championship in the 4x50 medley relay, and 23 Southeastern Conference medals. She was also named the 2020 SEC female Swimmer of the Year. Brown would qualify for the Team USA women's swim team at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She earned a silver medal in the women's 4x100 meter medley relay and a bronze medal in the women's 4x100 meter freestyle relay.

Daniel Steedman (born 31 January 2000) is a Scottish born American footballer. Career Youth and college On 3 September 2018, Steedman made his college soccer debut for Virginia playing 82 minutes in 0–0 draw against Maryland in a rivalry match at Audi Field. Van Smith (born August 14, 1996) is a former American football safety. He played college football at Clemson. Early years Smith attended Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina. In high school, he played on both offense and defense. Offensively as a senior he carried the ball 66 times for 444 yards and 13 touchdowns along with returning two kickoffs for touchdowns. Defensively as a senior he tallied 74 tackles and six interceptions. He committed to play football for the Clemson Tigers on August 31, 2013, choosing the Tigers over the likes of Penn State, Michigan, Duke, and several others.
