William A. Anderson
William A. Anderson (October 19, 1873 – December 12, 1954) was a politician and judge who served as the 30th mayor of Minneapolis. Life and career Anderson was born to Daniel and Cynthia Anderson on October 19, 1873 in Adams County, Wisconsin. After working as a teacher for several years, he moved to Minneapolis in 1909 to work in the grain milling industry. He attended the Northwestern College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1914. After graduating he became a law professor and also became involved in politics, winning election to the Minneapolis Park Board in 1916. In 1919, North Dakota governor Lynn Frazier asked Anderson to relocate there to support the development of the North Dakota Mill and Elevator (citing Anderson's experience in both grain milling and law). He later served as the Assistant North Dakota Attorney General and the secretary of the state's industrial commission. Arthur And Edith Lee House
The Arthur and Edith Lee House is a historic place located in the Field neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It was originally constructed in 1923. In the early 1930s, Arthur Lee and Edith Lee, an African-American couple, acquired ownership of the home, which came during a period of racial discrimination in housing deeds, and the house was located in a predominately White neighborhood. The Lee family endured violent threats from White neighbors and eventually moved out of the house in 1934 after several years of unrest. The home had renewed interest in the 2000s from scholars of racial discrimination in housing and it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2014. Lakewood Cemetery
Lakewood Cemetery is a large private, non-sectarian cemetery located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It is located at 3600 Hennepin Avenue at the southern end of the Uptown area. It is noted for its chapel which is on the National Register of Historic Places and was modeled after the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey. History About 250 acres in size, Lakewood memorializes the dead with more than 200,000 monuments, markers and memorializations. Long considered one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the country, it was modeled after the rural cemeteries of 19th-century France, such as Père-Lachaise in Paris.
