Willi Resetarits
Wilhelm Resetarits (21 December 1948 – 24 April 2022), better known as Willi Resetarits and Ostbahn Kurti, was an Austrian folk and early Austropop singer, actor-comedian and human rights activist. Biography Resetarits was born in Stinatz in the Austrian state of Burgenland. His family moved to Vienna when he was three. He studied sports and English studies intending to become a teacher, but his successful career as a musician intervened. In 1969 Resetarits joined the political rock band ''Schmetterlinge (rock band), Schmetterlinge'' (Butterflies). They participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 in London with the song "Boom-Boom-Boomerang", which reached the 17th and next-to-last place in Eurovision voting. In the mid-1980s, together with his colleague ''Günter Brödl'' he developed his alter ego ''Dr. Kurt Ostbahn'', an excessive personality with an intense stage presence, which turned out to be very successful. Stinatz
Stinatz (Croatian language, Croatian: ''Stinjaki'', Hungarian language, Hungarian: ''Pásztorháza'') is a town in the district of Güssing (district), Güssing in Burgenland in Austria. According to the last census 62% of the population are members of the Burgenland Croats, Burgenland Croat minority. Geography The town lies in the district of Guessing in the south of Burgenland and is composed of two urban districts, Stinatz and Stinatz-Nord. The neighboring towns are Ollerdorf, Hackerberg, Litzelsdorf and Wörterberg. History Due to the Ottoman Wars in the 15th century, many Croatian families emigrated to this area and founded their own town. Stinatz was first mentioned in a document in the year 1577. Like the whole Burgenland area, Stinatz belonged to Hungary until 1921. Karl Renner (14 December 1870 – 31 December 1950) was an Austrian politician and jurist of the Social Democratic Party of Austria, Social Democratic Workers' Party of Austria. The Bruno Kreisky Prize for Human Rights is a biennial award created in October 1976 on the occasion of the 65th birthday of Bruno Kreisky. Nestroy
Johann Nepomuk Eduard Ambrosius Nestroy (; 7 December 1801 – 25 May 1862) was a singer, actor and playwright in the popular Austrian tradition of the Biedermeier period and its immediate aftermath. He participated in the 1848 revolutions and his work reflects the new liberal spirit then spreading throughout Europe. Career Nestroy was born in Vienna, where he was a law student from 1817 to 1822, before abandoning his studies to become a singer. He joined the Theater am Kärntnertor, beginning with Sarastro in ''The Magic Flute'' on 24 August 1822. After a year of singing in Vienna, he went to Amsterdam where he appeared in baritone roles for two years at the local German Theatre. From 1825 to 1831 he accepted engagements to sing and act in Brünn, Graz, Pressburg, Klagenfurt, Vienna and Lemberg. Karin Kraml (née Müller; born 15 December 1961) is an Austrian journalist and politician. She was a member of the European Parliament from 2004 until 2009. At the time, her surname was Resetarits. Early and personal life Kraml was born in Vienna. From 1978 to 1979 she participated in AFS youth exchange and attended senior high school in Huntington on Long Island, Suffolk County, New York for one year.
