Christiana Willes
Christiana Willes (1786–1873), also known by her married name Christiana Hodges, was an early nineteenth century cricketer and the sister of John Willes (cricketer), John Willes. She has sometimes been attributed as the founder of roundarm bowling but it is known that the style was originated by Tom Walker (cricketer), Tom Walker. Many cricket sources name her as Christina rather than Christiana, but John Major and the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography are adamant that Christiana was the correct spelling of her name. Biography The earliest record of Christiana Willes is her baptism, on 20 February 1786 at Headcorn, Kent, as daughter of Sarah Snelling and William Willes, landowners, who in 1794 had inherited the manor of Tonford near Canterbury, Kent, Canterbury. Willes Little Flower School
Willes Little Flower School and College is one of the three first English medium school in Dhaka, Bangladesh and was established in 1956 by philanthropist Josephine Willes. The school follows the English version under Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. The school also provides classes under Pearson Edexcel for students who will sit for A-levels. The school also has a Bangla medium sections. History On 16 January 2016 parents of the students demonstrated against the school raising tuitions. In 2017 Bangladesh Chhatra League opened a unit at the school amid criticism of the move. Bertram Willes Dayrell Brooke
Captain Bertram Willes Dayrell Brooke, Tuan Muda of Sarawak (8 August 1876, in Kuching – 15 September 1965, in Weybridge, Surrey) was a member of the family of White Rajahs who ruled Sarawak for a hundred years. Life Brooke was the son of Charles, the second of these rajahs, and a brother of Vyner of Sarawak, the third and final ruler of that family. He was for some years heir presumptive to his brother, a claim he relinquished in favour of his son. He held the title of "Tuan Muda" (literally "Young Lord") and the style of "His Highness". Brooke was educated at Winchester College and at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was president of Cambridge University Boat Club and rowed in the Boat Race in 1900 and 1901, and he was a member of the Pitt Club. Sir John Willes (''c.'' 1721 – 24 November 1784) was an English politician. He was the eldest son of John Willes, Chief Justice of the Common Pleas, and his wife Margaret Brewster. Edward Willes, judge of the Court of King's Bench, was his younger brother. He was educated at Worcester College, Oxford (1738) and studied law at Lincoln's Inn (1734). He succeeded his father to Astrop Park near Banbury in 1761. He was Member of Parliament (MP) for Banbury 1746–1754, and for Aylesbury Aylesbury ( ) is the county town of Buckinghamshire, South East England. Sir John Willes (29 November 168515 December 1761) was an English lawyer and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1724 to 1737. He was the longest-serving Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas since the 15th century, serving 24 years. Life Willes was born at Bishop's Itchington in Warwickshire; his father, the Reverend John Willes, vicar of the parish, was a younger son of the long-established Willes family of Newbold Comyn. Dr. Edward Willes, Bishop of Bath and Wells, was his brother. Their mother was Anne (or Mary) Walker, daughter of Sir William Walker, who was three times Mayor of Oxford between 1674 and 1685.
