August Willemsen
August Willemsen (16 June 1936 in Amsterdam – 29 November 2007 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch translator of Portuguese and Brazilian literature. He also published essays, diaries and letters. Willemsen was known for his powerful use of the Dutch language and his flawless style. Biography After completing his secondary education in Amsterdam, Willemsen enrolled at the Conservatorium to study the piano. He decided, however, that literature was his first choice and, at a relatively late age, he began studying Portuguese. His translations of the Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa gained him recognition as a leading translator. In 1983 his translations were awarded the . In 1986 he received the for ''Braziliaanse brieven''. Till his death on 29 November 2007, Willemsen was working on translating Pessoa's entire oeuvre. Daniël Willemsen
Daniël Johan Nico Willemsen (born 7 May 1975 in Lochem, Gelderland) is a Dutch sidecarcross rider and ten times World Champion. Willemsen is the most successful rider in sidecarcross history, winning the title ten times, in 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012. He has also won the Dutch national sidecarcross championship nine times, winning it last in 2008 and the Belgian championship twice. For his success in motor sport he was made a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau in 2005. His home town Lochem also has named a street after him in 2005. He is the most successful World Championship sidecarcross rider and his ten titles place him seventh, as of 2011, in the all-time FIM World Champions list, with Giacomo Agostini with 15 titles at the top. Elfje Willemsen (born 11 January 1985 in Turnhout) is a Belgian bobsledder who has competed since 2007. Bobsledding career Willemsen finished 18th in the two-woman event at the FIBT World Championships 2009 in Lake Placid, New York. She qualified with the national bobsleigh team for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Together with Eva Willemarck she reached 14th place in the Two-woman bob competition. Madeline Willemsen (September 28, 1915 - May 9, 1982) was an actress and comedian, born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico to a Dutch father and a Puerto Rican mother. She was the first cousin of Lucy Boscana, considered by some Puerto Rican theater critics to be the finest Puerto Rican actress of all time. Her full name was Madeline Willemsen Bravo, and her maternal family was of Jewish origin. She lived in Mexico and studied acting in the United States, and worked for some time as a teacher in her hometown, when she returned to Puerto Rico. She used to cause scandals with her neighbours, smoking publicly, when it was not well seen for women. Marcel Willemsen
Marcel Willemsen (born 28 May 1977 in Lochem, Gelderland) is a Dutch sidecarcross passenger and 1999 World Champion. Marcel won the 1999 world championship as the passenger for his older brother, the seven times world champion Daniël Willemsen. After this, he left his brothers team and started racing as a sidecarcross driver himself, competing in the Dutch and the world championship. Willemsen is married and has three children, living in Lochem. In 2007 he announced that 2008 would be his last season as a GP rider, retiring from the international competition but took part in a limited number of races in the following seasons and raced a full season again in 2012. Mike Willemsen (; born ), better known by his stage name Mike Williams, is a Dutch DJ, record producer, musician, and remixer. He is best known for working with Tiësto and as an artist of Spinnin' Records, who recognised him as an "artist of the future". He is regarded as one of the pioneers of the future bounce genre, an emerging subgenre of future house, alongside Dutch DJs Justin Mylo, Brooks and Mesto. Biography Early life Willemsen was born on November 27, 1996. He started playing the piano as a child at the age of 6. When he grew a little older, he learned sight-reading during his piano lessons but would rather devise, make and play his own songs. Roger Willemsen (15 August 1955 – 7 February 2016) was a German author, essayist and TV presenter. Biography Willemsen was born and passed his Abitur in Bonn. He studied German philology (Germanistik), philosophy and history of art in Bonn, Munich and Vienna and was awarded a scholarship by the Evangelisches Studienwerk.
