Will Ryan (basketball)
William Francis Ryan III (born July 8, 1978) is an American basketball coach who is the former head coach of the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team. Early life and education Ryan is a native of Platteville, Wisconsin. He began his college basketball career at Wisconsin–Platteville. He helped the team win two Division III championships in 1998 and 1999. Ryan transferred to Milwaukee and played his senior season under Bruce Pearl. Ryan graduated from Milwaukee in December 2002 with a bachelor's degree in educational studies and youth leadership. Coaching career Ryan served on his father's staff at Wisconsin as director of basketball operations and video coordinator from 2002 to 2007. He was head coach of the Wisconsin Swing AAU club in 2005. He was an assistant at North Dakota State under Saul Phillips from 2007 to 2014. The 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 9, 2021 and concluded on March 13, 2022. 2020–21 Green Bay Phoenix Men's Basketball Team
The 2020–21 Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team represented the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Phoenix, led by first-year head coach Will Ryan, played their home games at the Kress Events Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin as members of the Horizon League. The Phoenix finished the season 8–17, 8–12 in Horizon League play, to finish in ninth place. Horizon League
The Horizon League is an 11-school collegiate athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, whose members are located in and near the Great Lakes region. The Horizon League founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. The conference changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1985 and then the Horizon League in 2001. The conference started with a membership of six teams and has fluctuated in size with 24 different schools as members at different times. The League currently has 11 members. Bo Ryan
William Francis "Bo" Ryan Jr. (born December 20, 1947) is an American former college basketball coach and player. He was the head coach of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Badgers men's basketball team from 2001 to December 2015. Ryan served as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville from 1984 to 1999 and at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee from 1999 to 2001. His overall collegiate coaching record was 747–233. Ryan was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017. Playing career Ryan began playing basketball at a very young age. His father, Butch Ryan was already a legend in the area, coaching youth sports including basketball to under-privileged children in Chester, Pennsylvania. Linc Darner
Linc Mitchel Darner (born December 12, 1970) is an American basketball coach and former men's basketball coach of the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay Phoenix. Darner previously spent nine seasons as the head coach at DII Florida Southern College and four seasons at Saint Joseph's College (Indiana). In 2015, Darner's Florida Southern Moccasins finished 36–1 and won the NCAA Division II National Championship. Darner was named the 2015 NABC UPS DII National Coach of the Year. Darner took over at Green Bay after Brian Wardle left in 2015. In his first season, he led the Phoenix to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1996. Mountain East Conference
The Mountain East Conference (MEC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level and officially began competition on September 1, 2013. It consists of 12 schools, mostly in West Virginia with other members in Maryland and Ohio.
