Will Owen (politician)
William James Owen (18 February 1901 – 3 April 1981) was a British miner and Labour Party politician, whose career as a Member of Parliament was ended by his trial under the Official Secrets Act 1911 for giving secrets to Czechoslovak intelligence. Although found not guilty, it was claimed by intelligence historian Christopher Andrew in ''The Defence of the Realm'' that "he was almost certainly guilty as charged". Miner Owen was born in Bedwellty, Monmouthshire and went to Blaina Boys' Central School, which he left at the age of 13 to go to work in the local coal mines. However he was determined to better himself and in 1920 left work to study at the London Labour College. When his course ended he returned to Blaina to become a Tutor Organiser for the National Council of Labour Colleges, arranging for other local miners to attend further education courses. Will Owen (cricketer)
William Thomas Owen (born 2 September 1988) is a Welsh cricketer who plays for Cheshire. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. Born in St Asaph, Clwyd, Owen attended Prestatyn High School and began his cricket career playing for Prestatyn Cricket Club. He was soon spotted by the Glamorgan scouts and began playing for their second XI in 2006. In 2007, he made his debut for Wales Minor Counties and at the end of the season, he made his first-class debut for Glamorgan, playing in their final County Championship match of the season against Gloucestershire. That year, Owen began a degree course at UWIC in Cardiff, and therefore divided his time in the 2008 season between playing for the Cardiff University Centre of Cricketing Excellence, the Glamorgan 2nd XI, Wales Minor Counties, Pentyrch and Prestatyn. Will Owen (illustrator)
Will Owen (1869 – 14 April 1957) was an English book illustrator, cartoonist, caricaturist and a commercial and poster artist, possibly best known for his iconic images of the Bisto Kids, Bovril, Lux and Lifebuoy. He received his art training at the Lambeth School of Art, and evolved a style similar to that of Tom Browne and John Hassall. Owen was born in Malta, the son of a Royal Navy engineer, and received his first education at Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School in Rochester. Before becoming a full-time illustrator, he worked at the Post Office Savings Bank where he met the writer W. W. Jacobs whose novels and short stories for '' The Strand Magazine'' he illustrated for many years. Owen himself wrote short stories, eventually joining the '' East Kent Mercury'' where he worked as a journalist. Will Owen (born 30 March 1995) is an English rugby union player. Club career Owen plays flanker. He previously played for Nottingham R.F.C, and Leicester Tigers. On 28 January 2017 Owen made his Tigers debut as a substitute in an Anglo-Welsh Cup match against Northampton Saints and was also an unused substitute against Harlequins in an Anglo-Welsh Cup game in January 2014.
