Wilkinson High School
Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School is located in Orangeburg, South Carolina. It is a part of the Orangeburg County School District. It is home to the Mighty Bruins/Bruinettes and also an International Baccalaureate World School. History Delano Middleton, a student at Wilkinson High School, was one of those killed in the Orangeburg Massacre. Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School was formed with the merger of Orangeburg High School and Wilkinson High School in 1971. Orangeburg, South Carolina
Orangeburg, also known as ''The Garden City'', is the principal city in and the county seat of Orangeburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population of the city was 13,964 according to the 2010 United States Census and declined to 12,704 in the 2020 census. The city is located 37 miles southeast of Columbia, on the north fork of the Edisto River. Two historically black institutions of higher education are located in Orangeburg: Claflin University (a liberal arts college) and South Carolina State University (a public university). History 18th century European settlement in this area started in 1704 when George Sterling set up a post here for fur trade with Native Americans. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. Woodrow "Woody" Dantzler III (born October 4, 1979) is a former American football running back and safety in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons. He played college football at Clemson University. Early years Dantzler attended Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, where he played quarterback. Tackle (gridiron Football Position)
Tackle is a playing position in gridiron football. Historically, in the one-platoon system prevalent in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, a tackle played on both offense and defense. In the modern system of specialized units, offensive tackle and defensive tackle are separate positions, and the stand-alone term "tackle" refers to the offensive tackle position only. Alex Benjamin Barron (born September 28, 1982) is a former American football offensive tackle in the National Football League for the St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints. A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. Nathaniel Donnell Abraham (born October 8, 1973) is an American football coach and former cornerback who is the current Defensive Coordinator for St. Louis Battlehawks. In his career, he played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1996–2001) and the New York Jets (2002–2004). Herman Son Winningham (born December 1, 1961) is an American former professional baseball player. He played all or part of nine seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), primarily as a center fielder, for the New York Mets, Montreal Expos, Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox. Career Drafted by the New York Mets in the 1st round of the 1981 Major League Baseball Draft, Winningham made his major league debut with the Mets on September 1, 1984.
