Vilhelmina Municipality (; sma, Vualtjeren tjïelte) is a municipality in Västerbotten County in northern Sweden. Its seat is located in Vilhelmina. History In 1804 the parish of Volgsjö was renamed Vilhelmina in honour of Queen Frederica Dorothea Wilhelmina of Sweden. In 1947 the locality Vilhelmina was detached from the rural municipality with the same name, forming the market town (''köping'') of Vilhelmina. The two entities were reunited in 1965. Geography Like the rest of northern Sweden (''Norrland''), it is scarcely populated due to its inhospitable conditions and cold climate, but is superb for those who like wildlife and untouched nature. Queen Wilhelmina State Park is a unit of Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism in the Ouachita Mountains. The original "Castle in the Sky" lodge was built in 1898 on 2,681-foot Rich Mountain, in Polk County, Arkansas. The park is on Talimena Scenic Drive — northwest of Mena, Arkansas and east of the Oklahoma state line. It is the only lodge open on the 235 mile Ouachita Trail. It is located on Arkansas’ second highest peak, Rich Mountain. The lodge has 38 guest rooms, a restaurant, lobby and meeting room. The campground and trails remained open during the renovation. USS ''Wilhelmina'' (ID-2168) was a transport for the United States Navy during World War I. Built in 1909 for Matson Navigation Company as SS ''Wilhelmina'', she sailed from the West Coast of the United States to Hawaii until 1917. After her war service, she was returned to Matson and resumed Pacific Ocean service. In the late 1930s she was laid up in San Francisco, California, until sold to a British shipping company in 1940. The Wilhelminagebergte () is a mountain range in the district of Sipaliwini in central Suriname. It extends about from west to east. It is named after Queen Wilhelmina. The Wilhelminagebergte is part of the Tumucumaque Uplands of the Guiana Shield. It belongs to the very ancient (Precambrian) Guiana Highlands. Most of it is in the Central Suriname Nature Reserve. Its best-known peaks are the Julianatop, 1280 m and the country's highest peak, and the Tafelberg, 1026 m. The area is surrounded by tropical rain forest and covered by other forests. It is biologically very diverse, with an estimated 3,000 higher plant species. Wilhelmina Bay is a bay wide between the Reclus Peninsula and Cape Anna along the west coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula.
