Wilhelm Faye
Wilhelm Nicolay Faye (3 January 1881 – 22 December 1967) was a Norwegian military officer, lecturer, war historian and local politician. Career Faye was born in Fet on 3 January 1881 to Gabriel Antonio Faye and Fernanda Augusta Landmark. He achieved his '' Examen artium'' student qualifications in 1898, and graduated as military officer from the Norwegian Military Academy in 1901, becoming a first lieutenant in the Kristiansandske Brigade in 1901. He then graduated from the Norwegian Military College in 1909. In August 1909 he married Laura Parr. He lectured at the Norwegian Military Academy from 1916, and headed the Norwegian Military Academy from 1927 to 1929. He was promoted major in 1930 and colonel in 1932. During the Second World War he was in command of the Norwegian 7th Brigade. As a local politician, he was elected member of the municipal council of Aker. Fet, Norway
Fet was a municipality in Akershus county, Norway. It was part of the Romerike traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Fetsund. Fet was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The new municipality of Rælingen was separated from Fet on 1 July 1929. The part of Enebakk municipality lying east of lake Øyeren was transferred to Fet in 1962. On 1 January 2020 Fet was merged with Skedsmo and Sørum municipalities to form Lillestrøm municipality. ''Hvem er hvem?'' ( en, Who is Who?) was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Aker, Norway
Aker was a former independent municipality in Akershus, Norway, that constitutes the vast majority of the territory of the modern city of Oslo. The name originally belonged to a farm which was located near the current Old Aker Church. The church in turn became the source of the name of the parish and later municipality as well as Akershus Fortress, the main fief and main county of Akershus which included most of Eastern Norway until 1919, the smaller county of Akershus, and numerous institutions within this area. Aker municipality was in terms of population by far the largest municipality of Akershus county and surrounded the capital city of Christiania (renamed Oslo in 1925) until 1948; Aker was 27 times larger than the capital it surrounded. Norwegian Military College
The Norwegian Military College ( no, Den militære høyskole) was a military educational institution in Norway. It was established on 16 February 1817, with headquarters at Akershus Fortress. It was originally meant for artillery and engineer officers, but in 1826 it was expanded to include naval officers as well—however, not many naval officers actually attended. There were several changes in the length of the education offered at the Military College. From 1901 a two-year course was offered, educating personnel to the General Staff. The school had been mandatory for General Staff members since 1850. The school saw its demise in 1940, the same year as Norway was invaded and occupied by Germany.
