Wilfred Coutts
Wilfred Charles Coutts (10 June 1908 – 4 November 1997) was an Australian politician. Born in Marburg, Queensland, he was educated at state schools before becoming a salesman. He was active in local politics as a member of Brisbane City Council. In 1954, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for Griffith. He held the seat until his defeat by Liberal candidate Arthur Chresby in 1958. He returned to the House in 1961, defeating Chresby. He held the seat until his defeat in 1966 by Don Cameron. Division Of Griffith
The Division of Griffith is an electoral division for the Australian House of Representatives. The division covers the inner southern suburbs of Brisbane, Queensland. History The division is named after Sir Samuel Griffith, former politician and a principal author of the Constitution of Australia. Griffith was created in 1934, replacing the seat of Oxley which had been established in 1900. Terri Butler retained the seat for Labor at the 2014 Griffith by-election on 8 February, caused by the resignation of the previous member, former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who held the seat from 1998 until his resignation in November 2013. Griffith has a growing Greens vote, with the party winning 5 booths on primary vote at the 2019 federal election and a further 4 booths in which the party came at a close second. Nudgee Cemetery
Nudgee Cemetery & Crematorium is a large Roman Catholic cemetery at 493 St Vincents Road, Nudgee, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The cemetery opened in 1867 and is still operating. Over 31,000 people are buried there. Services The cemetery is opened and operated by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane and the most of those buried there were Roman Catholic. However, burial of people of other faiths is possible, although permission from the bishop was required before 1957. There are areas reserved for various Catholic religious orders as well as an area for above-ground vaults which are preferred by some ethnic groups. Since 2014, a crematorium is available with columbarium walls for the placement of ashes.
