Arkansas Highway 223 (AR 223, Hwy. 223) is a north–south state highway in north Arkansas. The route of runs from Highway 56 in Calico Rock north across US Route 62/US Route 412 (US 62/US 412) to Missouri Supplemental Route E (SSR-E) at the Missouri state line. Norfork Dam is a large dam in northern Arkansas southeast of Mountain Home. It dams North Fork River and creates Norfork Lake. The top of the dam supports a 2-lane roadway, part of AR 177. History In the late 1930s, before construction of the Norfork Dam had begun, the local economy of Baxter County, Arkansas was deteriorating.
