''Wild Cat'' is the debut album by the British heavy metal band Tygers of Pan Tang. It was released in 1980 on MCA Records, and reached #18 on the UK album chart. The album was re-issued in 1989 in a double-LP package with '' Spellbound'', and on CD in 1997 with bonus tracks. Critical reception '' Goldmine'' called the album "an early biker-metal classic exuding all the boisterous charm one would expect from a bunch of young kids excitedly helping build a scene." Tygers Of Pan Tang
Tygers of Pan Tang are an English heavy metal band who are part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. They formed in 1978 in Whitley Bay, England, and were active until 1987. The band reformed in 1999 and continue to record and perform. The name is derived from Pan Tang, a fictional archipelago in Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné fantasy series whose wizards keep tigers as pets. Biography Early days, 1978–1983 The Tygers of Pan Tang were formed by guitarist Robb Weir (born Robert Mortimer Weir, 1958), Richard "Rocky" Laws (bass), Jess Cox (vocals) and Brian Dick (drums). Tush (ZZ Top Song)
"Tush" is a song by American blues rock band ZZ Top and was the only single from their fourth album ''Fandango!''. The song was named the 67th best hard rock song of all time by VH1. Composition The song is a twelve-bar blues in the key of G in standard tuning. Bassist Dusty Hill has said the song was written at a sound check in about ten minutes. The recording was produced by Bill Ham and recorded and mixed by Terry Manning. The title is a double entendre, referring both to slang for buttocks (with the connotation of "a piece of ass"), and slang for "luxurious" or "lavish", according to a 1985 interview with Hill in ''Spin'' magazine. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). ZZ Top
ZZ Top is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. For 51 years, they comprised vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and vocalist-bassist Dusty Hill, until Hill's death in 2021. ZZ Top developed a signature sound based on Gibbons' blues guitar style and Hill and Beard's rhythm section. Frank Beard (musician)
Frank Lee Beard (born June 11, 1949) is an American drummer best known as a member of the rock band ZZ Top. Early life Beard was born in Frankston, Texas, and attended Irving High School in Irving, Texas. Career Before joining ZZ Top, Beard was a member of a fake version of the British band the Zombies, which toured in the US without authorization from the original band members, and also was part of the Outlaws with later ZZ Top member Dusty Hill. Other bands Beard and Hill played with early in their careers included the Cellar Dwellers, the Hustlers, the Warlocks, and American Blues. In May 1969, Beard joined The Moving Sidewalks, a band that would become ZZ Top in July 1969. Beard also introduced Gibbons to Hill. Dusty Hill
Joe Michael "Dusty" Hill (May 19, 1949 – July 28, 2021) was an American musician who was the bassist of the rock band ZZ Top for more than 50 years. He also sang lead and backing vocals and played keyboards. Hill was born in Dallas, Texas, and as a child, he began performing music with his brother, Rocky Hill (musician), Rocky Hill. In 1968, he and drummer Frank Beard (musician), Frank Beard joined guitarist Billy Gibbons in ZZ Top, and went on to release albums, including the bestselling ''Eliminator (album), Eliminator'' (1983). Hill favored simple compositions and a "big", Distortion (music), distorted sound. Critics described his basslines as a critical part of ZZ Top's sound, complementing Gibbons' guitar showmanship.
