Wilbur Trosch
Wilbur R. Trosch (August 2, 1938 – May 5, 2014) was an American basketball player and coach. He excelled in both academics and athletics at Clairton High School in his hometown of Clairton, Pennsylvania, and earned a scholarship to play college basketball for the Saint Francis Red Flash. Trosch led the Red Flash in scoring for all three seasons he played and was named team captain during his senior season. Although his height led to his nickname "Tree", Trosch did not play as a traditional big man and instead preferred long-range shooting as he remarked that he had "a guard's mentality". He ranks 12th in points and sixth in rebounds amongst Red Flash players. Trosch was selected by the Syracuse Nationals as the 13th overall pick in the 1960 NBA draft but he never played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as he wanted to start a family. Clairton, Pennsylvania
Clairton is a city in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. It is located along the Monongahela River and is part of the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area. The population was 6,181 at the 2020 census. Under Pennsylvania legal classifications for local governments, Clairton is considered a third-class city. It is home to Clairton Works, the largest coke manufacturing facility in the United States. The city was the setting for the movie ''The Deer Hunter'' (1978), although none of the movie was actually filmed there (other mill towns in the Monongahela River Valley and elsewhere in the tri-state area were used). West Mifflin Area High School is a 9–12 high school in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, United States. History The "West Mifflin North High School" first opened its doors on Commonwealth Avenue in West Mifflin in 1960. At that time, it was the only public High School in West Mifflin and did not have a senior class. West Mifflin South High School opened on Camp Hollow Road in the following year, 1961, and became the second public High School in West Mifflin.
