Wil Hartog
Wil Hartog (born 28 May 1948) is a Dutch former professional Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. He competed in the Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championships from 1970 to 1981. Hartog was the first Dutch competitor to win a 500cc Grand Prix race. __TOC__ Motorcycle racing career Born in Abbekerk, North Holland, Hartog became the first Dutchman to win a 500cc Grand Prix when he claimed a victory at the 1977 Dutch TT. That victory earned him a ride with the Suzuki factory team as a teammate to Barry Sheene. Hartog won five Grands Prix during his career. Standing over 1,80 meters tall, he was at a disadvantage against his jockey-sized competitors yet he still managed impressive results. 1973 Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Season
The 1973 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 25th Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Road racing, Road Racing World Championship season. Season summary MV Agusta teammates Phil Read and Giacomo Agostini battled it out for supremacy of the 500cc class but the season was overshadowed by the deaths of Jarno Saarinen and Renzo Pasolini at the Italian round at Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Monza. The 500cc title runner-up, Kim Newcombe, also died at a non-championship race at Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone late in the year. Agostini claimed his 13th championship in the 350cc class. In the 250cc class, West German Dieter Braun won the crown for Yamaha Motor Company, Yamaha. 1972 Isle Of Man TT
The 1972 Isle of Man TT motorcycle races were held between 5–9 June 1972. It was the fifth round of the FIM Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championship (now MotoGP). A fatal accident this year led, some years later, to the end of the Isle of Man TT as a FIM championship race. The Ultra-Lightweight race was held on the last day of the event in heavy rain, and Gilberto Parlotti crashed fatally at the Verandah section of the circuit 29 miles into his second lap; the Italian rider was 31 years old. After the death of Parlotti, his friend, Giacomo Agostini, an Italian MV Agusta rider, 9-time TT winner and a ten time 350cc and 500cc world champion, announced that he would never return to the Isle of Man to race. Austrian Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Austrian motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that was part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season from 1971 to 1997, and then again from 2016 onwards. The event is due to take place at the Red Bull Ring until at least 2025. History The inaugural Austrian grand prix was held in 1971 at the Salzburgring, where it stayed until 1994. In 1995, the Austrian GP was taken off the calendar because the Salzburgring was deemed too dangerous for racing., but would return in 1996 on the then-called Österreichring. In 1997, the Österreichring became the A1-Ring, named after the Austrian mobile network operator A1. The 1972 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 24th F.I.M. Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix season. The season consisted of twelve Grand Prix races in six classes: 500cc, 350cc, 250cc, 125cc, 50cc and Sidecars 500cc. The Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing season that takes place at Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto outside Jerez de la Frontera in Andalucia. The Italian motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that is part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. Finnish Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Finnish motorcycle Grand Prix was part of the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing championship from 1962 to 1982. It was held at the Tampere Circuit in 1962 and 1963 before moving to the Imatra Circuit. Giacomo Agostini won the most Finnish Grands Prix with ten 500cc victories and seven 350cc victories. Czech Republic Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Czech Republic motorcycle Grand Prix was a motorcycling event that was part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. Before 1993, the race was known as the Czechoslovak motorcycle Grand Prix. Since 1965, the race was a part of world Grand Prix series (between 1982 and 1987 race was held as a part of European Grand Prix series only). Since 1987 the race was held on the newly built Brno Circuit, the historical track led through the streets of western parts of Brno and neighboring villages, such as Bosonohy and Žebětín. It was the most prestigious motor race in the country. Brno has also held the most motorcycle championship rounds in the sport's history after the TT Circuit Assen. Belgian Motorcycle Grand Prix
The Belgian motorcycle Grand Prix is a motorcycling event that was part of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing season from 1949 to 1990. History The first official Belgian grand prix was held in 1949, but non-championship races were held as far back as 1921. Every Belgian GP was held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, with the exception of the 1980 season when the round moved to the Zolder circuit due to problems with the new asphalt at Spa-Francorchamps in 1979. After the problems were resolved, Spa-Francorchamps became the host again from 1981 onwards. The last race was held in 1990, and was subject to controversy. 1970 Isle Of Man TT
The 1970 Isle of Man TT, the fourth round of the 1970 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season, involved a number of races on the Mountain Course on the Isle of Man. For the third consecutive year, Giacomo Agostini won both the Junior and Senior races, completing the six laps of the latter race in 2:13.47.6 to win by over five minutes. There were three "production" categories; Malcolm Uphill won the 750 cc, Frank Whiteway the 500 cc and Chas Mortimer the 250 cc. German pairs won both sidecar events; Klaus Enders and Wolfgang Kalauch in the 500 cc and Siegfried Schauzu and H. Schneider in the 750 cc. Kel Carruthers won the Lightweight 250 cc race, while Dieter Braun won the Lightweight 125 cc.
