Wii No Ma
(Wiiの間) was a Wii channel that featured a video-on-demand, film rental and shopping service operated by Nintendo and Dentsu. It was released on 1 May 2009, exclusively in Japan, and it could be downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel for free, although paid videos could be purchased with Wii Points. The service was shut down on 30 April 2012. Overview The channel allowed the user to add a family of up to eight Mii characters, which would place them on the ''Wii Room'', a Japanese living room with a tea table and a television. The tea table was what inspired the service, becoming the channel's icon. The characters would do everyday things on the room, like vacuuming, reading manga, eating lunch or playing on their Nintendo DSi. Homebrew, when applied to video games, refers to games produced by hobbyists for proprietary video game consoles which are not intended to be user-programmable. The official documentation is often only available to licensed developers, and these systems may use storage formats that make distribution difficult, such as ROM cartridges or encrypted CD-ROMs. Many consoles have hardware restrictions to prevent unauthorized development. A non-professional developer for a system intended to be user-programmable, like the Commodore 64, is simply called a ''hobbyist'' (rather than a ''homebrew developer''). Nintendo Network Service Database (NSD), formerly known as Wii no Ma, was a Japanese company. Originally created by Nintendo to provide digital entertainment as a service for Wii owners, the company has since been renamed. Nintendo DSiWare
This is a list of games and applications, collectively known as DSiWare, for the Nintendo DSi handheld game console, available for download via the DSi Shop and unplayable on earlier DS models. An update released for the Nintendo 3DS in June 2011 added support for the Nintendo eShop service, which contained the DSi Shop's full library of DSiWare games (at the time) with the exception of certain games and applications. There were over 200 downloadable games available in North America as of August 2010.
