Bill Wiggin
Sir William David Wiggin (born 4 June 1966) is a British Conservative Party politician, and a former Shadow Minister for Agriculture & Fisheries. He has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Herefordshire, previously Leominster, since the 2001 general election. Early life Wiggin was born in London in 1966. He attended Eton College, where he was an older contemporary of David Cameron, and later read Economics at the Bangor University, gaining a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in 1988. He also served in the Royal Welch Fusiliers in the TA, being a platoon commander for Holyhead, Bangor and Caernarfon. Following this, Wiggin worked as a Trader in Foreign Exchange Options for UBS from 1991 to 1993, then was an Associate Director of Kleinwort Benson from 1994 to 1998, then as a manager in the Foreign Exchange department of Commerzbank from 1998. Kate Douglas Wiggin
Kate Douglas Wiggin (September 28, 1856August 24, 1923) was an American educator, author and composer. She wrote children's stories, most notably the classic children's novel ''Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm,'' and composed collections of children's songs. She started the first free kindergarten in San Francisco in 1878 (the Silver Street Free Kindergarten). With her sister during the 1880s, she also established a training school for kindergarten teachers. Kate Wiggin devoted her adult life to the welfare of children in an era when children were commonly thought of as cheap labor. Wiggin went to California to study kindergarten methods. She began to teach in San Francisco with her sister Nora assisting her, and the two were instrumental in the establishment of over 60 kindergartens for the poor in San Francisco and Oakland. The Wiggin Baronetcy, of Metchley Grange in Harborne in the County of Stafford and of Garth Gwynion in Machynlleth in the County of Montgomery, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 17 June 1892 for Henry Wiggin. He was the founder of Henry Wiggin and Co Ltd, manufacturers of specialty metal products, and also represented Staffordshire East (as a Liberal) and Handsworth (as a Liberal Unionist) in the House of Commons. The second Baronet was High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1896. The third Baronet was a colonel in the army and served as High Sheriff of Warwickshire in 1942. The fourth Baronet was high sheriff of Warwickshire from 1975 to 1976 and a deputy lieutenant of the county in 1985. James Henry Wiggin
James Henry Wiggin (May 14, 1836 - November 3, 1900) was a Unitarian minister. He also worked as an editor and proofreader. Biography Wiggin studied at Dwight Grammar School and Tufts College, and was well traveled in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, he graduated in 1861 from Meadville Theological School, becoming a Unitarian minister in 1862. After serving a number of pulpits in Massachusetts for a few years he left the ministry, "believing that his radical opinions did not justify a longer continuance in his chosen work" (although there may have been financial reasons as well), and chose a career in writing and editing, which included editing for the ''Liberal Christian''. He often worked with his friend John Wilson of University Press as a proofreader, and was well known in Boston literary circles. Thomas Wiggin
Captain Thomas Wiggin (1601–1666), often known as Governor Thomas Wiggin, was the first governor of the Upper Plantation of New Hampshire, a settlement that later became part of the Province of New Hampshire in 1679. He was the founder of Stratham, Rockingham, New Hampshire, which celebrated its 300th anniversary of incorporation in 2016. The son of a vicar in the Church of England with family ties to important and influential families of the era. A highly respected man in his own right who would leave his stamp on what would become American values. Three of his children survived: Andrew, Mary and Thomas. Sir Henry Samuel Wiggin, 1st Baronet, (14 February 1824 – 12 November 1905) was an English metals manufacturer and Liberal Party (and later Liberal Unionist Party) politician. Biography Wiggin was born on 14 February 1824 in Cheadle, Staffordshire, the son of William Wiggin of Cheadle, whose friend Charles Askin was a partner with Brooke Evans in a nickel and cobalt refining and manufacturing business in Birmingham. Henry joined the company in 1842. He became a partner in 1848 after Askin's death. The company name, originally Evans and Askin, was changed to Evans and Wiggin around 1865 and to Henry Wiggin and Company in 1870. He was also a Director of the Midland Railway, the Staffordshire Water Works Co., the Birmingham Joint Stock Bank, and Muntz's Metal Co. Sir Alfred William Wiggin (24 February 1937 – 12 March 2015), known as Jerry Wiggin, was a British Conservative Party politician. Education Born in Worcestershire, England, Jerry Wiggin was educated at Eton College, followed by Trinity College, Cambridge. He became a farmer in Clevelode in his native Worcestershire. Parliamentary career Wiggin contested Montgomeryshire in 1964 and 1966. He became Member of Parliament (MP) for Weston-super-Mare in the 1969 by-election after the death of David Webster. Maurice Samuel Wiggin (1912 – 1986) was an English journalist and memoirist. As a journalist, he worked on a wide variety of titles, including the ''Birmingham Gazette'' and the ''Sunday Times.'' His books include memoirs (with a particular focus on his Black Country upbringing), fishing guides, and contemplations of country life. Life Wiggin was born in Bloxwich in 1912.
