Wiesław Stefan Kuc (born 2 September 1949 in Sokołów Podlaski) is a Politics of Poland, Polish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Lublin Voivodship, LU, is the economist and agriculture expert of EP delegation of Self-Defense of the Polish Republic, Self-Defense and sits on the European Parliament's Committee on Budgets. Initially, he was a Non-Inscrits, non-attached like the other members of his party, but on 1 December 2004, he joinethe Party of European Socialists, Socialist Group together with Bogdan Golik. He rejoined his Samoobrona colleagues in the Union for Europe of the Nations group in December 2006, leaving Golik alone with the Socialists. Sokołów Podlaski is a town in Poland, in Masovian Voivodeship, about east of Warsaw. The town lies on the Cetynia river, in the historical region of Podlachia and is the capital of Sokołów County. The first settlement was in the 6th century and the town received its charter in 1424. Population in 2004 was 18,434 (18,481 in 2010 and 18,720 in 2013). 2004 European Parliament Election In Poland
Elections to the European Parliament were held in Poland on 13 June 2004. 20.87% of eligible citizens voted; of these, 97.33% of the votes cast were valid. The elections resulted in a heavy defeat for the governing Alliance of the Democratic Left and Labor Union parties, although the very low turnout makes a direct comparison with national election results difficult. As expected the most successful party was the Civic Platform. Second place was taken by the strongly anti-EU League of Polish Families. The radical populist Self-Defence of the Republic of Poland, which some opinion polls had predicted would come second, came fourth after the Law and Justice party. The election results were a success for Social Democracy of Poland, which managed to cross the required 5% threshold, and the Freedom Union, which got over twice the expected percentage of votes.
