Wierzbno, Warsaw
Wierzbno is a neighbourhood, and an area of the City Information System, in the city of Warsaw, Poland, located within the district of Mokotów. It is a residential area, with most of its eastern area consisting of villas and tenements, and its western area, and portion of its eastern area, consisting of multifamily residential large panel system-buildings. Wierzbno was established as a small settlement in the 1770s, by Józef Jakubowski, a brigadier in the French Army. In the early 19th century, within the eastern portion of the current area of Wierzbno, Henryk Bonnet, a clerk and a judge, had established the settlement of Henryków, which was originally settled by French people. In 1840, nobleperson Ksawer Pusłowski had built his residence in southern Wierzbno, and a road near it, which forms current Ksawerów Street, and in 1849, he had bought the nearby Królikarnia palace, which was originally built in 1786. Wierzbno is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Domaniów, within Oława County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland. It lies approximately north-east of Domaniów, west of Oława, and south-east of the regional capital Wrocław. The village has an approximate population of 1,450. History The name of the village is of Polish origin and comes from the word ''wierzba'', which means "willow". The village was once a possession of the Saint Vincent Monastery in Wrocław. In 1840, it had a population of 796, and in 1885 it had a population of 863, mostly employed in flax, rapeseed and fruit cultivation. Transport The Voivodeship road 346 runs through Wierzbno, and the A4 motorway runs nearby, south-west of the village. Wierzbno is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Słupca, within Słupca County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in west-central Poland. It lies approximately south of Słupca and east of the regional capital Poznań. History As part of the region of Greater Poland, i.e. the cradle of the Polish state, the area formed part of Poland since its establishment in the 10th century. Wierzbno was a private church village of the monastery in Ląd, administratively located in the Konin County in the Kalisz Voivodeship in the Greater Poland Province of the Kingdom of Poland.
