Wickham B
The Wickham B is an American experimental twin engined, homebuilt aircraft. Design and development The twin engine aircraft was designed by Boeing engineer Jim Wickham in order to fly safely on one engine over the Seattle area. The model B is a high-wing, fixed tricycle landing gear, twin engine aircraft. The aircraft uses all aluminum construction with fiberglass cowlings, nose cone and wheel pants. The wings are configured with Fowler flaps. The wing has no dihedral. The two fuel tanks are located in the leading edges of the outboard panels just outboard of the engines. The fuel tanks are independent of each other with no cross feed capability or fuel lines in the cabin. The aircraft uses a throw-over yoke control, similar to a Beechcraft Bonanza. Horizontally Opposed
A flat engine is a piston engine where the cylinders are located on either side of a central crankshaft. Flat engines are also known as horizontally opposed engines, however this is distinct from the less common opposed-piston engine design, whereby each cylinder has two pistons sharing a central combustion chamber. The most common configuration of flat engines is the boxer engine configuration, in which the pistons of each opposed pair of cylinders move inwards and outwards at the same time. The Lycoming O-320 is a large family of naturally aspirated, air-cooled, four-cylinder, direct-drive engines produced by Lycoming Engines. Fowler Flaps
A flap is a high-lift device used to reduce the stalling speed of an aircraft wing at a given weight. Flaps are usually mounted on the wing trailing edges of a fixed-wing aircraft. Flaps are used to reduce the take-off distance and the landing distance. Flaps also cause an increase in drag so they are retracted when not needed. The flaps installed on most aircraft are partial-span flaps; spanwise from near the wing root to the inboard end of the ailerons.
