Wichita Blue
Wichita Blue, known in 1994 as Wichita Blue Angels, was an American soccer club based in Wichita, Kansas. The Blue played in several leagues including the Heartland Soccer League, Lone Star Soccer Alliance and the USISL. History In 1988, the Blue, owned by Ahmad Hassan joined the Heartland Soccer League. In 1990, the team switched to the Lone Star Soccer Alliance. In 1991, the Blue added a women's team and played their home games in Cessna Stadium. Following the 1992 season, the LSSA folded. The Blue sat out the 1993 season. Lone Star Soccer Alliance was a soccer league that existed from 1987 to 1992. While most of the teams came from Texas, some also came from Oklahoma and Kansas. Cessna Stadium
Cessna Stadium is a 24,000-seat stadium on the campus of Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas, United States. It opened in 1946 and served as the home of the Wichita State Shockers track and field team until 2020 and the football team until the program was discontinued in 1986. The Kansas Board of Regents approved demolition of the stadium in April 2020. In September of 2022, The Kansas Board of Regents approved the plan for a new, roughly $51 million stadium to replace the current facility. Norman Piper (born 8 January 1948) is an English former professional footballer who played in England for 13 years before finishing his career in the United States. Playing career Born in North Tawton, Devon on 8 January 1948 he joined Plymouth Argyle as an apprentice and signed professional terms in February 1965. Already an England Youth international, Piper made his debut for the Under 23 side in 1970 against Bulgaria, the year he left The Pilgrims- for whom he scored 35 goals in 221 appearances. Kevin Kewley (born 2 March 1955) is an English former professional football player and coach. Active in England and the United States, he played as a midfielder and made over 450 career appearances, scoring over 120 goals. After retiring as a player he was active as a coach at both professional and college-level. Playing career Born in Liverpool, Kewley signed for Liverpool in 1970, turning professional in March 1972.
