Why (Andy Gibb Song)
"Why" is a song written by Barry Gibb and composed by Andy Gibb, fourth and last single released on the album '' Shadow Dancing''. Released as a single in September 1978 around the same time as "(Our Love) Don't Throw it All Away". It was his only single that was not charted in any countries. Writing and recording Barry wrote the lyrics for this song while Andy composed the melody. As Andy reveals: It was recorded in Wally Heider Studios in Los Angeles, California. Barry sings background vocals on this track especially on the refrain and chorus. Barry also used his falsetto voice on this track as well as " Shadow Dancing", " Don't Throw it All Away" and "An Everlasting Love". The song features a guitar work by Jock Bartley of Firefall. John Sambataro, who later worked with Steve Winwood who also sing background vocals on the album, plays slide guitar on this track as it was featured on the intro and interlude. Andy Gibb
Andrew Roy Gibb (5 March 1958 – 10 March 1988) was an English singer, songwriter, and actor. He was the younger brother of Barry Gibb, Barry, Robin Gibb, Robin and Maurice Gibb, Maurice, who went on to form the Bee Gees. Gibb came to prominence in the late 1970s through the early 1980s with eight singles reaching the Top 20 of the US Hot 100, three of which went to number-one: "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" (1977), "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water" (1977), and "Shadow Dancing (song), Shadow Dancing" (1978). In the early 1980s, he co-hosted the American music television series ''Solid Gold (TV series), Solid Gold''. He also performed in a production of ''The Pirates of Penzance'' and ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat''. Gibb would later have issues with drug addiction and depression. Slide Guitar
Slide guitar is a technique for playing the guitar that is often used in blues music. It involves playing a guitar while holding a hard object (a slide) against the strings, creating the opportunity for glissando effects and deep vibratos that reflect characteristics of the human singing voice. Joe Lala
Joseph Anthony Lala (November 3, 1947 – March 18, 2014) was an American musician and actor. In 1966, he co-founded the rock band Blues Image. Life and career Lala was born in Ybor City, Tampa, Florida, to parents from Contessa Entellina (an ethnic Albanian community in Sicily). His father was Sicilian, and he left the family when Joe was a child, so he was raised by his mother on her own. Lala's mother, Janie Cacciatore, an avid dancer, took her son to as many shows as she could. Lala spoke fluent Spanish and Italian. He started out playing the drums in several Florida bands, before forming the band Blues Image. He also occasionally sang lead vocals, most notably on the song "Leaving My Troubles Behind". Ronald Louis Ziegler (May 12, 1939 – February 10, 2003) was the 13th White House Press Secretary and Assistant to the President, serving during United States President Richard Nixon's administration. Early life Ziegler was born to Louis Daniel Ziegler, a production manager, and Ruby (Parsons) in Covington, Kentucky. He was raised in the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod denomination. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family.
