"Who Can I Run To" is a 1979 song written by Charles B. Simmons, Frank Alstin Jr, Richard Roebuck and originally recorded by The Jones Girls. The song was the B-side to "You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else". ''Billboard'' named the song #58 on their list of 100 Greatest Girl Group Songs of All Time. Xscape version and samples *A 1995 cover version by R&B group, Xscape, spent one week at number one on the U.S. R&B Singles chart and reached number eight on the pop chart. *A remix was also made, which sampled former labelmate Teddy Pendergrass's " Love T.K.O." *R&B artist Anderson Paak sampled the Xscape version for his song "Might Be" from the album ''Venice'' in 2014. Xscape (group)
Xscape is an American girl group from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1991 by Kandi Burruss, Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, LaTocha Scott, Tamera Coggins-Wynn, and Tamika Scott. The following year Coggins-Wynn left the group and Xscape became a quartet. They were discovered by Jermaine Dupri who signed the group to his So So Def label. The group released their debut album ''Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha'' in 1993, which spawned two of their biggest hits "Just Kickin' It" and "Understanding". The album was certified Platinum on February 1, 1994. Xscape has sold more than 7 million records worldwide. The group went on to release their second album, '' Off the Hook'' in 1995 and was certified Platinum on November 16, 1995. Ricky Rydell Dillard (born February 25, 1965) is an American gospel musician. He started his music career, in 1987, as a Chicago house musician. His first Christian music album was ''Promise'', by Muscle Shoals Records. His next album, ''A Holy Ghost Take-Over'', was released in 1993 by Malaco Records. The subsequent album, ''Hallelujah'', was released by them in 1995. Crystal Spring Records released, 1996's ''Work It Out'', 2000's ''No Limit'', and ''Unplugged'' in 2004. James Adarryl Tapp Jr. (September 9, 1977 – November 26, 2003), better known by his stage name Soulja Slim, was an American rapper and songwriter. He is perhaps best known for featuring on the U.S. number one hit "Slow Motion". Early life James A'Darryl Tapp Jr. was born in New Orleans on September 9, 1977, to James and Linda Tapp. He was raised in the Magnolia Projects in New Orleans and attended Cohen Senior High School before dropping out of school in the 11th grade. Byron Otto Thomas (born March 20, 1969), better known by his stage name Mannie Fresh, is an American music producer and rapper. He's best known for his productions on Cash Money Records releases, as well being half of the hip hop duo (alongside label co-founder Birdman) the Big Tymers. He produced all or most of the songs on 17 multi-platinum, platinum or gold albums for Cash Money from 1998 to 2004 before leaving the label. He also was their only in-house producer when the company started in 1991. Life and career Thomas was born and raised in the 7th Ward of New Orleans. Influenced by his father DJ Sabu, Thomas became a DJ for New Orleans hip hop crew New York Incorporated in 1984 at age 15.
