Alex Whitmore
Alexander James Whitmore (born 7 September 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays for AFC Fylde, as a central defender. After playing youth football with Wallsend Boys Club, Whitmore turned professional with Burnley in 2014, and had spells at Chester, Gateshead, Morecambe, Bury and Chesterfield. He signed for Grimsby Town in May 2018 before joining current club AFC Fylde in June 2019. Career Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, Whitmore started his career with local youth side Wallsend Boys Club, where he played until the age of sixteen. In July 2012, he joined Burnley on a two-year scholarship deal. Keith Bernard Whitmore
Keith Bernard Whitmore (born November 28, 1945) is a former Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Eau Claire. Biography A native of Wisconsin, Whitmore is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Nashotah House. Whitmore was Bishop of the Eau Claire Diocese from 1999 to 2008. Currently, he is Assistant Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. Previously, he served as Dean of Christ Cathedral in Salina, Kansas and as a military chaplain in the United States Army. Additionally, he has been a member of the Berkeley Divinity School Board of Trustees. Whitmore is married with two children. Michael Witmore (born May 3, 1967) is a Shakespearean, scholar of rhetoric, digital humanist, and director of a library and cultural institution. In 2011, he was appointed the director of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC, where he continues to serve. Early life and career Michael Witmore graduated from Vassar College in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in English. He has an M.A. and a Ph.D. in rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley. From 1999 to 2008, he was an assistant professor and then an associate professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University. Hugh John Whitemore (16 June 1936 – 17 July 2018) was an English playwright and screenwriter. Biography Whitemore studied for the stage at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, where he was taught by Peter Barkworth, then on the staff at RADA, who recognised he had the potential to make a significant contribution to the theatre, "though perhaps not as an actor." He began his writing career in British television with both original television plays and adaptations of classic works by Charles Dickens, W. Somerset Maugham, Daphne du Maurier, and Charlotte Brontë, among others, and had won a Writers' Guild of Great Britain award twice. William Wolryche-Whitmore
William Wolryche-Whitmore (16 September 1787 – 11 August 1858) was a Shropshire landowner and British Whig politician. He held a seat in the House of Commons from 1820 to 1835, representing first Bridgnorth and later Wolverhampton. His sister Georgiana Whitmore (1792–1827) married the English inventor and mathematician Charles Babbage in 1814 and had eight children with him, including Australian settlers Benjamin Herschel Babbage and Dugald Bromhead Babbage. Background William Wolryche-Whitmore was originally plain William Whitmore. Mary Whitmore
Mary Whitmore (née Fletcher) (17 September 1884 – 19 July 1974) was a social activist who was the first woman to be Mayor of Ipswich, in 1946–47. Early life Whitmore was born Mary Fletcher in 1884 in Whitton, Suffolk, to Isaac Fletcher and his wife Rosetta (née Elliott). She won a scholarship to Ipswich Higher Grade School in 1895. By 1901 she was a pupil teacher at a board school. She later trained as a teacher at Whitelands College. Career Whitmore was a suffragette, and was a founder member of the Ipswich branch of the Women's Social and Political Union. She was a founder member of the Ipswich Workers' Educational Association, and was its secretary from 1929 to 1939. She was elected a Labour Councillor in 1930. Lady Lucy Whitmore (, Bridgeman; 22 January 1792 – 17 March 1840) was an English noblewoman and a hymn writer. Biography Lucy Elizabeth Georgiana Bridgeman was born on 22 January 1792. She was the only daughter of Orlando Bridgeman, 1st Earl of Bradford. Her mother was Lucy Elizabeth Byng (1760–1844), the eldest daughter of George Byng, 4th Viscount Torrington. John Whitmore (30 March 1929 – 24 December 2001) pioneered the sport of surfing in South Africa. His early career as an abalone and crayfish diver put him close to the ocean. After having read about surfing in Hawaii in the late fifties, John became so enthused by the prospect of surfing he set off to build his own surfboards.
