Whitford is a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada within Lamont County. It is located west of Highway 45, approximately northeast of Fort Saskatchewan. The first school was built in 1895 with John and Andrew Whitford as trustees. Demographics Whitford recorded a population of 6 in the 1981 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada. Hamlets in the province of Alberta, Canada, are unincorporated communities administered by, and within the boundaries of, specialized municipalities or rural municipalities ( municipal districts, improvement districts and special areas). They consist of five or more dwellings (a majority of which are on parcels of land that are smaller than 1,850 m2), have a generally accepted boundary and name, and contain parcels of land used for non-residential purposes. Fort Saskatchewan
Fort Saskatchewan is a city along the North Saskatchewan River in Alberta, Canada. It is northeast of Edmonton, the provincial capital. It is part of the Edmonton census metropolitan area and one of 24 municipalities that constitute the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board. Its population in the 2021 federal census was 27,088. The city was founded as a North-West Mounted Police fort and later home to a large provincial gaol.
