Albert Whitehurst
Albert John Whitehurst (22 June 1898 – 1976) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Bradford City, Liverpool, Rochdale, Stoke and Tranmere Rovers. Whitehurst played for five professional clubs during his career and was a prolific scorer, setting club records at two of his clubs, Rochdale for goals in a season and Bradford City for the number of goals in a game. Playing career Whitehurst was born in Fenton and started his career at his works football team New Haden Colliery, before moving to Stoke in 1920. He played 11 times in 1920–21 scoring twice and played six matches in 1921–22 again getting on the score sheet twice but he manages just one appearance in 1922–23 and was sold to Rochdale. Whitehurst played five seasons for Rochdale scoring a total of 117 league goals, including a club record 46 goals in 43 games in 1926–27 as the "Dale" agonisingly missed out on promotion. John Whitehurst FRS (10 April 1713 – 18 February 1788), born in Cheshire, England, was a clockmaker and scientist, and made significant early contributions to geology. He was an influential member of the Lunar Society. Life and work Whitehurst was born in Congleton, Cheshire, to a clockmaker, the elder John Whitehurst. Receiving only a slight formal education, the younger Whitehurst was taught clockmaking by his father, who also encouraged the boy's pursuit of knowledge. In 1734, at the age of twenty-one, Whitehurst visited Dublin to inspect a clock of curious construction of which he had heard. Career About 1736, Whitehurst entered into business for himself at Derby, where he soon obtained great employment, distinguishing himself by constructing several ingenious pieces of mechanism. Logan Anthony Whitehurst (November 15, 1977 – December 3, 2006), was an American musician. His career began as the drummer for the band Little Tin Frog from 1995 until 2000, although he is best known as a founding member of Californian indie rock band The Velvet Teen and as a solo artist performing under the name Logan Whitehurst and the Junior Science Club.
