Whitehouse is a district and civil parish that covers a large new development area on the western flank of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. As the first tier of Local Government, its community council is responsible for the people, living and working in this area of Milton Keynes. It is bounded by Calverton Lane (the Monks Way (H3) alignment) to the north, Watling Street (V4) to the east, Dansteed Way (H4) to the south and, , a hedgerow line to the west. The district covers (including open space) and is projected to have 4,400 homes and of employment land. Origins The ( greenfield) land it occupies was previously part of Whitehouse Farm, in Calverton, a rural parish that is now just outside of the Milton Keynes urban area. In 2004, the Government decided on the further expansion of Milton Keynes and accordingly designated land on the eastern and western flanks for this purpose. The City of Milton Keynes is a unitary authority area with both borough and city status, in Buckinghamshire. It is the northernmost district of the South East England Region. The borough abuts Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and the remainder of Buckinghamshire. The principal built-up area in the borough is the Milton Keynes urban area, which accounts for about 20% of its area and 90% of its population. The ONS's provisional return from the 2021 census reports that the population of the borough has reached approximately 287,000. History The local authority was created on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, as a District under the (then) Buckinghamshire County Council, by the merger of Bletchley Urban District, Newport Pagnell Urban District, Newport Pagnell Rural District and Wolverton Urban District, together with that part of Wing Rural District within the designated New Town area.
