Whitehorn, Calgary
Whitehorn is a residential neighbourhood in the northeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is bounded by McKnight Boulevard to the north, 52 Street NE to the east, 32 Avenue NE to the south and 36 Street NE to the west. The Peter Lougheed Centre is located southwest from the neighbourhood. The area was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1961 and the community was established in 1973. It is represented in the Calgary City Council by the Ward 10 councillor. The community is served by the Whitehorn station of the C-Train LRT system. The postal code in this area is T1Y. Whitehorn also has a number of public schools in the area, including Annie Gale Junior High School and J. Fred Scott School for K-6. Whitehorn Mountain (Alberta)
Whitehorn Mountain is located in the Slate Range of Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. The mountain is home to the Lake Louise Ski Resort. Geology Like other mountains in Banff Park, Whitehorn is composed of sedimentary rock laid down from the Precambrian to Jurassic periods. Formed in shallow seas, this sedimentary rock was pushed east and over the top of younger rock during the Laramide orogeny. Climate Based on the Köppen climate classification, Whitehorn is located in a subarctic climate zone with cold, snowy winters, and mild summers. Temperatures can drop below -20 °C with wind chill factors below -30 °C. Whitehorn Mountain is a peak located in eastern British Columbia, Canada near the Alberta border. It is one of British Columbia's 102 ultra prominent peaks. Whitehorn Mountain was first climbed by Conrad Kain in a rare solo ascent for him. In the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology, Finnbhennach ("white-horned" sometimes rendered as "Whitehorn") was an extremely fertile stud bull owned by king Ailill of Connacht. He was originally one of Bodb Dearg's pig-keepers, who fell out with one of his colleagues. The two fought, taking a series of animal and human forms, before finally becoming two worms who were swallowed by two cows and reborn as two bulls, Finnbhennach and Donn Cuailnge. Whitehorn station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta Calgary ( ) is the largest city in the western provinces and territories of Canada, Canadian province of Alberta and the largest metro area of the three Canadian Prairies, Prairie Provinces. Whitehorne House Museum
The Whitehorne House is an example of a United States Federal style mansions at 416 Thames Street in Newport, Rhode Island and is open to the public as a historic house museum. History It was built for Samuel Whitehorne Jr. in 1811 and the exterior feature elegant brick constructionm a hipped roof, decorative entry portico, and a formal garden, which are typical of the Federal Style. It is notable as one of the rare houses to be built in Newport in the Federal Style as the period after the Revolutionary War was a period of slow economic recovery for the city. Interior highlights include a grand central hallway, hand carved details, and a significant collection of early American furniture provided by Doris Duke.
