Lloyd Francis Bacon (December 4, 1889 – November 15, 1955) was an American screen, stage and vaudeville actor and film director. As a director he made films in virtually all genres, including westerns, musicals, comedies, gangster films, and crime dramas. He was one of the directors at Warner Bros. in the 1930s who helped give that studio its reputation for gritty, fast-paced "torn from the headlines" action films. And, in directing Warner Bros.' ''42nd Street (film), 42nd Street'', he joined the movie's song-and-dance-number director, Busby Berkeley, in contributing to "an instant and enduring classic [that] transformed the musical genre." Rose Blossom (born Blossom Breneman, and sometimes credited as Donal Blossom) was an American actress active during Hollywood's silent film era. She was a contract player at MGM, and she often appeared as a cowgirl. She was the leading lady in the Buck Jones film ''The Gentle Cyclone''. She was noted for her short stature and slight build. Biography Blossom was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and was the daughter of Edward Breneman and Bessie Parker. She graduated from Kirkwood High School at the age of 16 in 1922, and studied art for two years at Washington University in St. Louis before she moved to New York City to pursue a career as an actress. Louise Dresser (born Louise Josephine Kerlin; October 5, 1878 – April 24, 1965) was an American actress. She is perhaps best known for her roles in the many films in which she played the wife of Will Rogers, including ''State Fair'' and ''David Harum''. Early life Louise Josephine Kerlin was born on October 5, 1878, in Evansville, Indiana to Ida (née Shaffer) and William S. Kerlin, a railroad engineer who died when she was 15 years old. She had a younger brother, William Lambert Kerlin. Career Dresser took her professional last name from Paul Dresser, who was a friend of her father. Upon finding out Louise was William Kerlin's daughter, he launched her as his younger sister, and she took on his last name. Many people believed the two were related, and when Paul died, Louise was mentioned in his obituary as a surviving relative.
