Scottish Gaelic ( gd, Gàidhlig ), also known as Scots Gaelic and Gaelic, is a Goidelic language (in the Celtic branch of the Indo-European language family) native to the Gaels of Scotland. As a Goidelic language, Scottish Gaelic, as well as both Irish and Manx, developed out of Old Irish. It became a distinct spoken language sometime in the 13th century in the Middle Irish period, although a common literary language was shared by the Gaels of both Ireland and Scotland until well into the 17th century. Most of modern Scotland was once Gaelic-speaking, as evidenced especially by Gaelic-language place names. In the 2011 census of Scotland, 57,375 people (1.1% of the Scottish population aged over 3 years old) reported being able to speak Gaelic, 1,275 fewer than in 2001. Allie White
Thomas Allison White (March 23, 1915 – October 21, 1996) was an American football guard and tackle who played one season, in 1939, with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Eagles in the 13th round of the 1939 NFL Draft. He played college football at Texas Christian University (TCU) and attended Masonic Home School in Fort Worth, Texas. Allie was the first player in Texas high school history to be voted all state three times in high school. While at TCU, he played with both Sammy Baugh and Davey O’Brien. Later, Allie coached for TCU, and his most prized recruit and player was Bob Lilly. He was inducted into the TCU Lettermen's Association Hall of Fame in 1970. Beverly Jean White (née Larson; September 2, 1928May 24, 2021) was an American activist and politician who served in the Utah House of Representatives from the 57th, 64th, and 21st districts from 1971 to 1991, as a member of the Democratic Party. She was the longest-serving female member of the Utah State Legislature. Bartow White (November 7, 1776 in Yorktown, New York, Westchester County, New York – December 12, 1862 in Fishkill, Dutchess County, New York) was an American physician and politician from New York. Life He was the son of Dr. Ebenezer White (1746–1826) and Helena (Bartow) White. He attended the common schools and completed preparatory studies. Grant, a published authority on the history of West Jersey and the genealogy of local families, and a pioneering New Jersey cranberry farmer. Azellia White
Azellia White (June 3, 1913 – September 15, 2019) was an American aviator who was one of the first African Americans, African-American women to earn a pilot's license in the United States. She is recognized as a trailblazer, overcoming widespread perceptions at the time, "that neither women nor African Americans were qualified to fly airplanes."
