Whitsun
Whitsun (also Whitsunday or Whit Sunday) is the name used in Britain, and other countries among Anglicans and Methodists, for the Christian High Holy Day of Pentecost. It is the seventh Sunday after Easter, which commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Christ's disciples (as described in Acts 2). In England it took on some characteristics of Beltane, which originated from the pagan celebration of Summer's Day, the beginning of the summer half-year, in Europe. Whitsuntide, the week following Whitsunday, was one of three holiday weeks for the medieval villein; on most Feudalism, manors he was free from service on the lord's demesne this week, which marked a pause in the agricultural year. ''Whit, or, Isis amongst the unsaved'' is a novel by the Scottish writer Iain Banks, published in 1995. Isis Whit, a young but important member of a small, quirky cult in Scotland, narrates. The community suspects that Isis' cousin Morag is in danger, and sends Isis out to help. Plot summary Isis, otherwise The Blessed Very Reverend Gaia-Marie Isis Saraswati Minerva Mirza Whit of Luskentyre, Beloved Elect of God III, is the 19-year-old granddaughter and designated spiritual heir of Salvador Whit, patriarch of the Luskentyrians. WCSY (AM)
WCSY (940 AM) was a radio station that broadcast in South Haven, Michigan. It formerly simulcasted sister station WCSY-FM (103.7 FM). Until 2005, the station's format was Adult Standards fed via satellite from Westwood One; it later switched to an oldies format called "Oldies Plus", from Waitt Radio Networks. The station had filed a construction permit to move its community of license to Hudsonville, Michigan. This move was never completed. On January 19, 2009, the WCSY call sign was returned to 940 AM to match the WCSY-FM simulcast. The WHIT call sign was then returned to a Mid-West Broadcast Group station in Madison, Wisconsin formerly "WTUX". WHKF (99.3 FM, "Real 99.3") is a commercial radio station licensed to serve Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Owned by iHeartMedia, the station broadcasts a mainstream urban format. History The station first signed on the air in July 1965 by Hudson Broadcasting Corp. as WSFM. The studios and transmitter were co-located with WCMB on Poplar Church Road () in Wormleysburg, Pennsylvania. Through the 1960s and early 1970s the station's format was MOR like its sister station, but it did not duplicate WCMB. Whit's Diner
Lloyd's Diner is a historic diner at 184A Fountain Street in Framingham, Massachusetts. Formerly Whit's Diner in Orange, Massachusetts, it was moved its present location in 1990. Built as #783 by the Worcester Lunch Car Company in 1942, it was operated by Robert and Richard Whitney until about 1960 as Whit's, and then under other ownership as the Orange Diner. It was purchased by Richard and Joan Lloyd in 1990 and moved to Framingham. The diner was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.
