The ShortWork Awards are annual film awards, presented by the Whistler Film Festival to honour the best short film A short film is any motion picture that is short enough in running time not to be considered a feature film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes ...s screened at the festival. Prior to 2012, a single award was presented inclusive of both Canadian and international short films; in that year, separate awards were created for Canadian and international films. In 2010, a category was also introduced for the best short film by British Columbia film students. On two occasions in 2015 and 2016, an award was also presented for best screenplay in a Canadian short film, but this has not been presented since 2016. Whistler Film Festival
The Whistler Film Festival (WFF) is an annual film festival held in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada. Established in 2001, the festival is held the first weekend of December and includes juried competitive sections, the Borsos Awards, and the Pandora Audience Award. A conference for the Canadian film industry, known as the Whistler Summit, is organised in connection with the film festival.
