Where No Fan Has Gone Before
"Where No Fan Has Gone Before" is the eleventh episode in the fourth season of the American animated television series ''Futurama''. It originally aired on the Fox network in the United States on April 21, 2002. Set in a retro-futuristic 31st century, the series follows the adventures of the employees of Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company. In this episode, the Planet Express team and most of the main cast of ''Star Trek: The Original Series'' face a court-martial after visiting the forbidden planet Omega 3. An existing idea to feature the cast of ''Star Trek: The Original Series'' was scrapped and replaced with a new script written by David A. Goodman, after the newly hired writer was identified as the biggest ''Star Trek'' fan on the staff. All of the main cast of ''The Original Series'' agreed to appear, with the exception of DeForest Kelley – who had died in 1999, although a character in his likeness did appear, without speaking – and James Doohan, ...

In the Books of Samuel, he is described as a young shepherd and harpist who gains fame by slaying Goliath, a champion of the Philistines, in southern Canaan. David becomes a favourite of Saul, the first king of Israel; he also forges a notably close friendship with Jonathan, a son of Saul. However, under the paranoia that David is seeking to usurp the throne, Saul attempts to kill David, forcing the latter to go into hiding and effectively operate as a fugitive for several years. Trekkie
A Trekkie or Trekker is a fan of the '' Star Trek'' franchise, or of specific television series or films within that franchise. History Many early Trekkies were also fans of ''The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'' (1964–1968), another show with science fiction elements and a very devoted audience. The first ''Star Trek'' fanzine, ''Spockanalia'', appeared in September 1967, including the first published fan fiction based on the show. Roddenberry, who was aware of and encouraged such activities, a year later estimated that 10,000 wrote or read fanzines. The mainstream science fiction magazine '' If'' published a poem about Spock, accompanying a Virgil Finlay portrait of the Vulcan. Perhaps the first large gathering of fans occurred in April 1967. When Leonard Nimoy appeared as Spock as grand marshal of the Medford Pear Blossom Festival parade in Oregon, he hoped to sign hundreds of autographs but thousands of people appeared; after being rescued by police, "I made sure never to appe ...

Fan Fiction
Fan fiction or fanfiction (also abbreviated to fan fic, fanfic, fic or FF) is fictional writing written in an amateur capacity by fans, unauthorized by, but based on an existing work of fiction. The author uses copyrighted characters, settings, or other intellectual properties from the original creator(s) as a basis for their writing. Fan fiction ranges from a couple of sentences to an entire novel, and fans can retain the creator's characters and settings and/or add their own. It is a form of fan labor. Fan fiction can be based on any fictional (and occasional non-fictional) subject. Common bases for fan fiction include novels, movies, musical groups, cartoons, anime, manga, and video games. Fan fiction is rarely commissioned or authorized by the original work's creator or publisher and is rarely professionally published. It may infringe on the original author's copyright, depending on the jurisdiction and on legal questions such as whether or not it qualifies as "fair use ...

Redshirt (character)
A "redshirt" is a stock character in fiction who dies soon after being introduced. The term originates from the original ''Star Trek'' (NBC, 1966–69) television series in which the red-shirted security personnel frequently die during episodes. Redshirt deaths are often used to dramatize the potential peril the main characters face. Origin In ''Star Trek'', red-uniformed security officers and engineers who accompany the main characters on landing parties often suffer quick deaths. The first instance of what now is an established trope can be seen in the episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" (1966). Of the 55 crew members killed in the series, 24 were wearing red shirts, compared to 15 who had unconfirmed shirt colors, 9 in gold shirts, and 7 in blue shirts. Most casualties were security personnel, whose uniform was red. The '' Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' book ''Legends of the Ferengi'' says Starfleet security personnel "rarely survive beyond the second act break". An ...

Star Trek Convention
Science fiction conventions are gatherings of fans of the speculative fiction genre, science fiction. Historically, science fiction conventions had focused primarily on literature, but the purview of many extends to such other avenues of expression as films, television, comics, animation, and games. The format can vary but will tend to have a few similar features such as a guest of honour, discussion panels, readings and large special events such as opening/closing ceremonies and some form of party or entertainment. Science fiction conventions started off primarily in the UK and US but have now spread further and several countries have their own individual conventions as well as playing host to rotating international conventions. History The precise time and place of the first science fiction convention is a matter of some dispute. The idea and form was clearly anticipated in Robert Bloch's short story about a large convention of writers, "The Ultimate Ultimatum" (''Fantasy M ...

Energy Being
An energy being or astral being is an alleged life form that is composed of energy rather than matter. They appear in myths/legends, paranormal/UFO accounts, and in various works of speculative fiction, also in some religions it's believed that there is a whole race of such creatures who live amongst humans; and "satan" is a rogue one of them. Energy beings are typically rendered as a translucent glowing fluid or as a collection of flames or electrical sparks or bolts; somewhat in common with the representations of ghosts. Energy beings have a variety of capacities. The Taelons (from '' Earth: Final Conflict'') are barely more powerful than mortals, while others such as ''Star Trek''s Q, ''Stargate SG-1''s Ascended Ancients/Ori, '' Ben 10: Alien Force''s Anodites, or the Meekrob from ''Invader Zim'' possess god-like powers. In science fiction * Vorlons (''Babylon 5'') * Some of the First Ones (''Babylon 5'') * Organians (''Star Trek'') * Prophets and Pah Wraiths (''Star Tre ...

The Original Series Episodes
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archai ...

The Two Towers
''The Two Towers'' is the second volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's high fantasy novel '' The Lord of the Rings''. It is preceded by '' The Fellowship of the Ring'' and followed by '' The Return of the King''. Title and publication ''The Lord of the Rings'' is composed of six "books", aside from an introduction, a prologue and six appendices. However, the novel was originally published as three separate volumes, due to post-World War II paper shortages and size and price considerations. ''The Two Towers'' covers Books Three and Four. Tolkien wrote: "''The Two Towers'' gets as near as possible to finding a title to cover the widely divergent Books Three and Four; and can be left ambiguous." At this stage he planned to title the individual books. The proposed title for Book Three was ''The Treason of Isengard''. Book Four was titled ''The Journey of the Ringbearers'' or ''The Ring Goes East''. The titles ''The Treason of Isengard'' and ''The Ring Goes East'' were used in the ''Mill ...
