Where Angels Fear
''Where Angels Fear'' is an original novel by Rebecca Levene and Simon Winstone featuring the fictional archaeologist Bernice Summerfield. The New Adventures were a spin-off from the long-running United Kingdom, British science fiction on television, science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Levene had been editor of the New Adventures for some years, with Winstone latterly her deputy and then her successor. ''Where Angels Fear'' was commissioned as Levene handed over to Winstone and it sets up a story arc that ran through to the final New Adventure, ''Twilight of the Gods (Clapham and Miller novel), Twilight of the Gods''. Synopsis Bernice's home planet of Dellah, once a place of learning, is being overrun by a new religious movement. Rebecca Levene
Rebecca Levene is a British author and editor. She is the author of ''The Hollow Gods'' fantasy novel series. In the 1990s, she was an editor at Virgin Books, including notably of the New Adventures series. Biography Levene had a sitcom optioned, but never produced by the BBC. Her first novel, '' Where Angels Fear'', was co-written with Simon Winstone, her deputy and successor on the New Adventures. More recently, she has written for publisher Black Flame, including a ''Strontium Dog'' novel ''Bad Timing'' and a ''Final Destination'' novel ''End of the Line''. In 2014, she published ''Smiler's Fair'', the first in a fantasy series ''The Hollow Gods'' published by Hodder & Stoughton. Simon Winstone
Simon Winstone is a British author, screenwriter and script editor, best known for his work on ''Doctor Who'' and on the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders''. Career Winstone worked for Virgin Books, overseeing their Missing Adventures ''Doctor Who'' series and briefly being in charge of the New Adventures after the series had ceased being a ''Doctor Who'' tie-in. His only novel, the New Adventure '' Where Angels Fear'', was co-written with Rebecca Levene, his predecessor on the New Adventures. Winstone moved into TV in the late 1990s, working on the popular ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' for a period. He then worked on rival BBC series ''EastEnders'' for many years as a story editor and then as a producer. The ''Virgin New Adventures'' (NA series, or NAs) are a series of novels from Virgin Publishing based on the British science-fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. They continued the story of the Doctor from the point at which the television programme went into hiatus from television in 1989. Bernice Surprise Summerfield (later Professor Bernice Summerfield or just Benny) is a fictional character created by author Paul Cornell as a new companion of the Seventh Doctor in Virgin Publishing's range of original full-length ''Doctor Who'' novels, the ''New Adventures''.
