Mary Lewis (Canadian Actress)
Mary Lewis is a Canadian actress and filmmaker from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. She was the recipient of the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council Artist of the Year Award in 1999. Life She was born in Kampala, Uganda but grew up in St. John's. She lives with a daughter born in 2004, and divides her time between Toronto and St. John's. Work In 1998, she wrote, directed, animated, and produced the short film ''When Ponds Freeze Over''. Genie Award
The Genie Awards were given out annually by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to recognize the best of Canadian cinema from 1980–2012. They succeeded the Canadian Film Awards (1949–1978; also known as the "Etrog Awards," for sculptor Sorel Etrog, who designed the statuette). Genie Award candidates were selected from submissions made by the owners of Canadian films or their representatives, based on the criteria laid out in the ''Genie Rules and Regulations'' booklet which is distributed to Academy members and industry members. ''The Telegram'' is a daily newspaper published weekdays and Saturdays (as ''The Weekend Telegram'') in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. History ''The Evening Telegram'' was first published on April 3, 1879 by William James Herder. It adopted its current name in 1998, although it was also briefly published under this name in 1881. Herder and his descendants owned and published ''The Evening Telegram'' until it was sold to Thomson Newspapers (now Thomson Corporation) in 1970, and continued as publishers until the departure of Stephen R. Herder (William's Grandson) in 1991. William Herder began as a printer for the St. John's weekly ''The Courier''. Andrew Jordan Jones (born January 15, 1948) is a Canadian comedian, actor, writer, and a former member of CODCO. Early life Andy Jones was born in St. John's, Newfoundland. He is one of four children of Michael Jones and Agnes Dobbin. He is the brother of comedian Cathy Jones and filmmaker Michael Jones (1944-2018). Andy attended St. Bonaventure's College until grade eight and then attended Gonzaga High school for the next three years. He received a BA. in Theology and English from St. Mary's University and then studied drama at University of Alberta in Edmonton and at the University of Toronto, acting in campus productions.
